Before I yell at FH, I have a question

FH is refusing to go with me to register for the bridal shower because he thinks if people get us a gift at the bridal shower they will not give us a wedding gift....I disagree with him....who's right?

tell him he's sorely mistaken. the shower (while the gifts are for you both)....the party itself is for you. the ladies shower you with gifts.

any gifts for the wedding---will most likely (if its here in NY) be cash gifts from your guests. everyone who gave a shower gift, gave us a cash gift at the wedding.

Shower and wedding gifts are in no way related. People who get you shower gifts should still get you a wedding gift.

You're absolutely right, show him this thread. Register for the shower and and then for the wedding people will give you $$$.

FH and I had the same disagreement when registering.

I had to sit down and explain to him like a 3-year old the difference.

you are right! it's now become customary to give registry gifts at the shower, and cash/checks at the wedding. but if he won't go, then go by yourself and register for whatever you want!!

Have him go with you maybe just to sign up and you can scan a few things and come back again either on your own or with someone else. We used to work in retail and use those guns all the time, so once FH got his hands on one he didn't want to let go!
