Beginings
Well fh & i decided on the 'type' of wedding we are having. So this weekend we are going to go searching for 'the Place'. We are estimating about 225 guests
Any suggestions would be great from you girls as well..i also bought the facilities magazine and we are picking from there.
Does anyone know offhand if places charge sat. night prices for sunday nights with monday holidays? Thanks in advance..

Re: Beginings
I really all depends upon the place.....but I will tell you that holiday weekend Sunday nights aren't really getting a discount that much anymore. I think they finally caught on that people want to do this, and are charging close to the same thing as a Saturday night.

Re: Beginings
Hi- Actually when I went looking, most of the places did charge that Saturday night cost for Sunday(If it was a Holdiay Weekend) .

Forgot to mention that sorry I am at work and i am trying to be discreet. We decided that we want a facility with gardens for pictures if it does not rain, we are not too picky about being on the water so that is not a priority. We are basically looking for a elegant facility that could accomidate everyone comfortably and with good food.

We got a discount (not a lot) for the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend over the saturday. It wasn't the discount is what made us pick the Sunday - it was their availabliltyAre you looking in nassau / suffolk?

Re: Beginings
OK we picked a water place, so I'm not going to be much help.I went to see a band last night at the Riviera at Massapequa. I have no idea what they charge, but it looked nice
We also looked at the swan club, which has great gardens, and although they claim the room holds 225, we decided against it, because it felt cramped
We booked Bridgeview in Island Park, which is huge and spacious, but there is only one gazebo. You could do photos elsewhere. We are using the beach in Long Beach

Re: Beginings
Crest Hollow has amazing gardens and great food, so does Fox Hollow. Chateau Briand is more glitzy, but has a small garden area in the center that can be used for pics, and the food is amazing there too.

Re: Beginings
We picked Floral Terrace. Floral Terrace does not have a garden outside, but it does have a garden room, with Flowers, plants, a little waterfall, just in case it rains, you can take pics in there. And the ballroom fits about 400 people. The min for a Sunday night is 150. Their website is www.floralterrace.comGood Luck!

Re: Beginings
I think a lot of places do offer the usual Sunday price for the sunday of holiday weekends- so you get a good price....I think when we went to Fox Hollow the sunday of Labor Day weekend was booked through 2004.

Re: Beginings
We are having our reception at the Manor East. It does not have grounds but it does have beautiful rooms, great food, service and it can defintely accomadate 225 guests. We are having a 6 1/2 hour reception and are paying a price that was within our budget for per person. If you need more information, just need me a forum e-mail.

Re: Beginings
The North Ritz Club has nice places to take pictures. Riviera was nice but WAY too small, we are having 150 and I don't think it would hold that many comfortably. We picked J.ANthonys, nice water shots but we need to go to a park for garden shots. Good Luck

Re: Beginings
Good luck w/everyiting. What holiday weekend are you considering? Memorial, Labor, Columbus, Presidents, Veterans?????From visiting w/the Scotto brothers I dont think they charge Saturday night prices for Sunday Holidays. I remember a little bit of a discount.
I would definitely check out Fox Hollow, it has Gorgeous grounds, also owned by the Scottos is Westbury Manor, beautiful grounds as well.
I chose Chateau Briand for the indoor glitz
but if you want outdoor beauty, the other 2 are perfect.I also think the Swan Club had beautiful grounds, you should check them out as well.
Let us know.

Re: Beginings
I was looking for the Sundays before holidays also and found out that the prices weren't as great as I thought they would be. I looked at about 10 places on LI.I ended up booking at the Chateau Briand because it was totally my style. The cheapest date was the Monday of Memorial Day. Even though its a Monday, I just fell in love with the place.
The best price I got for a Sunday on a holiday weekend was at the Crest Hollow. From what I hear it has positive reviews and has beautiful grounds for pictures.
