they had on groupon or livingsocial a getaway there. not sure when it expires or when you have to go but maybe check it out. I'm not even sure what it costs or what the package is but I know I saw it when I was looking last night randomly.
I went to Belize last year on a cruise. It was nice but a lot of the areas are pretty impoverished. I can't speak of the resorts but we did a fun Jeep 4x4 excursion. I probably wouldn't go back but there but I'm sure there are some beautiful resorts.
I've been to Belize several times throughout the years and it is a beautiful country. Compared to some other areas in the caribbean, it is less commericalized -expect a more rural, jungle atmosphere. Their economy is based largely on agriculture, so what may appear like a poor country is actually full of lush, tropical trees. The people are very very nice. I haven't gone snorkelling there, but they are well known for cave-tubing (AMAZING, I've done it 3 times) and ziplining in the rainforest. Both these excursions were prob the best I've ever been on. Their jaguar resort is supposed to be really nice. Their native food ( I had rice boiled in coconut milk and spices) is really good.
how far is belize from NYC via plane? is it outside the hurricane belt? do they have all inclusives and/or what is the approx cost for a week vaca?
