As far as I know, no mansion.
Why don't you try the Bayard Cutting Arboretum in Oakdale (they have a mansion).

I didn't think so. Where is that? Is it near Babylon. The problem is that we won't get out of curch until around 6:15 and cocktail hour is at 8 at JAs in Babylon. We want to get there by 7:30 the latest to take pictures on the deck so we don't have too much time to work with. That's why we can't go too far out of the way............oh, and it's Labor Day weekend and we will be traveling East on the SS (HEADACHE!!!!!!)

Re: Belmont Lake State Park
there is a beautiful house on the grounds of Belmont Lake State Park. It used to be the Belmont Estate. Its actually closer to Belmont Ave. I would check with the park on what the regulations are for taking pictures.
Good Luck!

Beth....have you thought about maybe going Ocean Parkway instead of the Southern State? I travel to Hauppauge everyday and on certain days I take that instead...it's ALWAYS empty. It's probably your best bet hun!
