Does anyone know if there is a fee or what you have to do to set-up a picnic/BBQ for over 50 people?
FH just called & asked me to see what I can find out for his work peoples.

We used to always have our family picnics there but we waited until after labor day and then got their really early for tables... sorry I can't help much more!!

there is just the state park fee--which i believe is up to 8 bucks now...unless you have the EMPIRE pass, it's free!

My family has a reunion there every year. I know that someone has to go really early in the morning as soon as they open and reserve tables. No one ever wants that job because you basically have to wait until someone else gets there...you can't leave or people will take your tables. I'm not sure if there is a fee involved though. I don't think so, just have to pay to get into the park.

Hi ladies, I just got off the phone with them. Apparently you need to optain a permit, especially if drinking is involved.
This is for a work party, with probably about 100 people, but I think if you had under 50 you could just go & reserve tables that a.m.
You also are able to 'reserve' one of their picnic areas. The permit costs $225 on weekends or $175 weekdays. Just FYI.

We do this every year with abour 75 people. You do need the permit ( the Rangers do check) For the drinking of alcohol. But unless you are worried about rain there is no need to reserve (with the $ deposit) It reserves the Pavilions that are around the park. But I would advise you to go early and reserve your picnic area. I am the one that usually goes to reserve the spot Which is about 7 -8 am.

We hold our Hibernian picnic there in August every year and we get the permit and pay for one of the pavillions. I would recommend getting the pavillion, especially if it's for 100 people.
