We are probably going to be about 10 people or so (maybe more like 15) under our minimum guarantee. I know we are responsible for paying up to the minimum no matter what, but I was wondering - has anyone had experience with getting the reception hall to throw in something extra in order to make up the difference? Just so we are not paying for nothing? I heard that the Scotto Brothers establishments are somewhat accommodating in this arena (and we are at a SB hall), and I was wondering if anyone had experience with this?
I`m sort of nervous to ask them about this...so I needed some thoughts. Thanks! :)

Below minimum guarantee - what to do?
I would definitely ask them to throw something in. A dessert cart, an upgraded entree, something additional for the cocktail hour. All of those things could be added without a huge cost to them and they should be willing to accommodate (remember, they will want you to speak highly of their services to other newly engaged couples! so don't feel bad asking.

Definately ask! The minimums are set to get a minimum dollar amount for the space and time. It doesn't make much difference if they provide 10 or 15 dinners, or cookie and pastry platters, as long as the cost is comparable. When we negotiated our original agreement they were more than willing to throw in extras. In some cases we just asked about the availability of something (ie: the modified viennese hour) and they threw it in at the same per/plate rate, no extra charge - just because we asked.

We wanted to get an extra hour at the reception because we dont want the day to go too fast. Well, we were 20 people below our minimum so our reception hall threw in the extra hour instead of us having to pay $4.00 per person. Hey, it saved us $600.00!! We were happy! :)

We had about 3 people short at the snapper inn and they didn't charge us. If you have to pay, I would recommend asking more people to come, co workers or anyone,or ask them to bag the mealsfor your family totake home, it's only fair.
