Trying to decide which island in Hawaii to go to. I've heard Maui is the most beautiful but doesnt seem like there is as much to do. Does anyone have any suggestions??

They're all gorgeous and uniquely different:
Oahu has lots of activities, but I don't feel like I'm in Hawaii when I'm there. Especially the Waikiki area has a 'city-ish' feel to it.
Kauai - visually the most beautiful island. Lots of hiking and nature stuff to do but it's very quiet (and I think the most expensive)
Lanai - not much to do and only really 2 places to stay. Perfect if you want to 'get away from it all' but after a day or two, it's enough.
The Big Island - lots to see and do. Plus, volcano national park.
Maui - my personal favorite. I think it's the perfect blend of quiet beauty and lots to do and see.

Last time we went to Maui we spent a day over on Lanai. It was an easy ferry ride from Lahaina to Lanai. We had fun on the island, but were ready to head back to Maui at the end of the day. We didn't even spend the entire day there - maybe 4 hours or so.

We are going to Kauai, Maui and The Big Island. I have never been there, but this is what was recommended to us. But I will let you know when I get back mid July.

I think it depends what you are looking for on your honeymoon... relaxing, activities, or city life?
Kuaui is how Hawaii used to be before all of the commercial tourism. This is more for relaxing. Beautiful landscape.
Maui is the best for honeymooners. A small amount of activities, and beautiful landscapes
Oahu... ... its like Miami... a big city, with tons of people and activities.

Same here... Maui, Oahu and Kauai...hoping to add Big Island. I am going to be a complete tourist... and ride a bike down the volcano at like 4 am above the clouds....Aaahhhhh

i just got back from the big island for my honeymoon. DH and i went to Napa Valley for four days and then spent 9 days on the big island
it was incredible! FM for details

We went to Maui and Kauai. Both were beautiful, but I LOVED Kauai!!!!! It is so beautiful, and if you want stuff to do, there is tons of it. If you want to just relax, you can do that too. In Kauai, we drove around the entire Island, there is so much to see, so incredibly beautiful. We went ziplining with 'Just Live' It was an amazing experience. We went horseback riding on the beach. And we spend some time just chilling out. It was definitely my favorite! Maui was a little too commercial for my tastes - McDonald's and Starbucks an such everywhere.

They are all beautiful and you can't go wrong. Everyone has pretty much steered you in the right direction, though I saw very little on the Big Island. I have been lucky to have traveled to Hawaii 7 times, or more possibly, and I have been to every island. My personal favorite is Maui, followed by the Big Island which I love for the Old World feel.
Maui is the best of both worlds. You don't have to worry about not having anything to do.
Hawaii (The Big Island) is really neat because its the most old world Hawaii. Its covered in volcanic rock. It doesn't have the best beaches, but its neat because it has black sand and green sand beaches from the recent volcanic activity and the lava fields. And an active volcano.
Kaui is where they filmed Jurassic Park. It's the most lush and tropical, but also gets the most rain.
Oahu is the most built up but there is a lot to do.
Unless you are looking to just relax, I wouldn't choose Lanai. There is little to do there. However from Maui you can do the Trilogy Sail Cruise and spend a day on Lanai, which is worth doing.
Seriously... you can't go wrong. They are all beautiful.

I would say Maui is the most expensive...but has the most to do. Some parts are very commercial but some are not. I think the south shore or Hana is a nice balance.
Kaui is less expensive than Maui, and prettier with more traditional Hawaiian architecture, but it was not as fun as Maui, and the food was nowhere near as good.
I hated Oahu...but I was just there for a few hours.

Maui has a ton of stuff to do...like another poster said, it is the perfect mix of beauty and fun stuff. There is the Road to Hana, and Mt Haleokula, watersports, great restaurants, beaches, and even a scrapbooking store if you're a scrapper (the only one on Hawaii)! Oahu- more like a city...but we did hike up Diamondbakc Mt and go shopping in the Intl Marketplace...and Kuaui-beautiful and quieter than Maui.

Maui---my friend lived in Hawaii for more than a year and she said the place with the best blend of relaxation yet also activities and restaurants was Maui! Go for it you are going to love it.
