Ok, so with less than three weeks till my wedding, the best man (FH's brother) just dropped out. He just informed FH that he can't get that day off work. I just think he should have asked for that day off months ago. He also said he doesn't think anyone will switch shifts with him, so we don't know what to do. The sad part is that he sounded like he didn't even care :( We only had one best man and one groomsman, so now we are down to one groomsman.

Re: Best man just dropped out
Is he related to my FH, because I could totally see Jays' brother pulling that same **** only he will tell us the day before, like he did with our e-party.
Makes you glad you got the brother you did, doesn't it?
Sorry your going through that.

Re: Best man just dropped out
Thats so wrong! Can't he explain to his coworkers that its his brothers wedding. I would switch with my coworker if she was going to miss her sisters wedding.

Re: Best man just dropped out
This whole thing is just ridiculous! FH and I really believe the work thing is just an excuse because he could have asked for the day off earlier and it certainly seems like he could switch hours with someone! He said he does not think someone will switch hours with him on short notice...ummm, you have known about being the best man for 6 months!!! He has not been fitted for his tux yet either...so I am starting to believe he never had any intentions of being in the wedding, even though he accepted the best man spot and then turned it down today!!!

Re: Best man just dropped out
I feel your pain, Ijust lost 3 groomsmen (my three bros) and my godfather who was walking me down the aisle and giving me away. My numbers are now 4 girls, 2 men...I'm going to have them walk separately I think
EDA: And yeah I'd kill him for not asking for time off sooner, can't he just call in?

Re: Best man just dropped out
I feel your pain. . .DH had one of his best friends (or supposed best friend) drop out WITHOUT EVEN TELLING US until a month before the wedding. This 'BFF' told another GM that he had a 'church thing that he couldn't get out of.' UMM, he knew about our wedding for at least ELEVEN MONTHS. . .he couldn't turn to the church people and say, 'Umm, I'm in a wedding, can we push back the retreat to the following weekend?' When DH confronted him about it, the BFF told him that the church planned this retreat five months prior. WHY DIDN'T HE STEP UP AND SAY SOMETHING THEN BECAUSE HE KNEW ABOUT THE WEDDING NINE MONTHS PRIOR?!?!?!?!? Ugh. But at least it gave one of my brothers who initially wasn't going to be in the party the opportunity to stand up there for DH and I, so that worked out.
This friend really had no intention of being in the party, much less coming to the wedding, and that really hurt DH a LOT.
You learn a LOT about people and their true colors when planning a wedding. . .
