Best place for photo ops?

Best place for photo ops?

Hey everyone,

Just wondering what you all think the best reception hall would be that has the best backdrop for taking pictures (either there at the hall or close by, like a park, beach, etc). I'm out of state, so I'm trying to gather as much info as possible before I come home again to LI for a visit.

I'm looking for a place that will hold about 100 - 150 people and is in Nassau or close to Nassau.

Thanks!

Westbury Manor

The Carltun or Carlyle on the Green (one of them is in Eisenhower park, can't remeber which one )

John Anthony's on the water (in Babylon; border of nassau/ suffolk).

I'm getting married at the Vanderbilt Mansion - it's got a beautiful courtyard, great lawn by the water, glass conservatory - lots of beautiful places for pictures and it all in one place.

There are pictures on their website:

Good luck.

Re: Best place for photo ops?

I'm actually not even engaged yet - but hoping I will be next month!
I'm hoping to plan for a late spring/early summer wedding in 2004.
My parent's house is right around the corner from Eisenhower Park - I think it's Carltun on the Green that's in there - very pretty but a little out of my price range. My cousin got married at Westbury Manor, and even though I loved it, I want to be different! I'd thought about Vanderbilt because I graduated from Dowling. Wouldn't that be funny to get married at my Alma Mater? I think it may be too small.

John Anthony's seems to be the best bet so far, if I can meet the minimum for Saturday night. Next in line I think would be the Riviera in Massapequa. It seems to have really pretty grounds - flowers, water view, etc. What do you all think?

You could check out the Sans Souci in Sea Cliff. I got married there in September and it was absolutely beautiful. It is an old mansion on a hill overlooking the water. They have gardens, benches, etc. and the water is right there. They are also very affordable. If you have any questions, feel free to ask

The Carltun on the Park is in Eisenhower Park in East Meadow.

The Carlyle on the Green is in Bethpage State Park in Bethpage.

Other sites that are easily accessible to parks or beaches:

The Cresant Beach Club in Bayville
Sail Harbor in Bayville - for either of these, you could go to the Planting Fields Arboretum

San Souci is okay, but their grounds aren't that well kept (at least when I saw it two years ago).

The Swan Club in Roslyn has beautiful gardens, as does the Miller Place Inn in Suffolk.

Harrison House in Glen Cove has incredible, parklike grounds, but it is very expensive.

Danfords or Port Jeff CC are on the beach, both with incredible waterviews. PJCC has more gardens than Danfords.

Villa Lombardi is near the Bayard Cutting Arboretum.

Fox Hollow, Westbury Manor and Woodbury CC have nice gardens.

Land's End in Sayville has beautiful gardens and beach access and West Sayville CC has waterviews and a golf course.

Meg - Sans Souci does sound really nice. I love Sea Cliff. But what if it rains? What's the interior like? I'm just looking for a really pretty place to have pictures taken, whether it be indoors or out. To me, pictures are at the top of my list!

Thanks for the help!

Thanks Claud! Good advice.... I've never heard of Sail Harbor. I'll check into that. Bayville is really pretty....

im getting married at john anthonys and my fiance's sister was married at riviera and i must say that as far as photo ops go on the grounds the riviera is much better than ja's.

You can check out the Sans Souci website - www.sanssouci.us. I know Claud said the grounds weren't well-kept but that hasn't the case when I've seen it. For pictures inside, there is a nice bridal suite but not nearly as beautiful as the outside. I took pictures before the ceremony at the Harrison House (just in case of rain). I couldn't afford to get married there but they let us take pictures since we were staying there for our wedding night.
The only disadvantage to the Sans Souci is that it is a bit small - max comfortable fit is 150 (even though they say the max is 180). The food was amazing. If you are looking for someplace unique and affordable, they are perfect.
Good luck

John Anthonys is beautiful my sister just got married there in May, Georgous!!!
If you decide to go there I would suggest Argyle Park. It is right on Main Street a few lights from John Anthonys and it is beautiful there. It is in the Village of Babylon

livininsin - do you need a permit for that park? Is it better than Belmont lake state park?

Re: Best place for photo ops?

No you dont need a permit. Im not sure if it is better then Belmont - Believe it or not I havent been there and I live right near it. I would drive past Argyle. Also across Main St is another little spot with a gazebo which is nice you can get some boats in the background.

You should look at the Nassau county art musuem I heard it was elegant for weddings. They have a beautiful gardens, with sculptures, and the museum is in a mansion.

I just wanted to add one thing . . .
If you go and check out Sail Harbor, try not to give them your phone #. I did not book with them and they ended up giving out my phone # to several pushy vendors.
