best places to shop for a wedding dress

what are the best places to go dress shopping? I'm in brooklyn so i dont want to drag my girls tooo far out there, but im only about 30 minutes away from most of long island so it's not like we cant get to a lot of places..and if the places has a big selection and great service than its worth it. Id like a place where there are a lot of choices of BM dresses and gowns.
i know lestan has most of the designers i like for both me and my girls..but ive heard too many horror stories about them so it kind of turns me off to wanting to chance it.. so where should i go?? TIA :)

Have you tried RK Bridal in the city? Don't know how far out in Brooklyn you are, but it's on 39th btwn 8th and 9th. It has a huge selection of gowns and BM dresses and you can rifle through their racks and pick what you want and try on as many as you want. You don't need an appt to try on BM dresses at all. Bridal gowns you def. don't need an appt during the week,at least for your first trip, but it's a madhouse on the weekends so I would make an appt to try on bridal gowns if you plan to go on a weekend.
