Best RH's for smaller weddings??

Original post by mls282

I am going on Friday (finally!!) to go check out reception halls. I was just worried that I might miss some good ones. I am from OOT so I will only be on Long Island for 4 days to check out all the RH's anc choose one. I was just wondering if anyone can tell me which RH's you think are best for smaller wedding venues of about 100-140 guests.

I have heard places like Swan Club are great in general but that the rooms for the smaller weddings are not very nice, and that I would be disappointed. I am not sure if this is true or not but I was wondering if this is the case for other places as well. The grand ballrooms with the dome like in Jericho Terrace seem gorgeous but I would obviously not get a room like that with the size of my party. So can anyone give me any pointers, tips or suggestions?? Which places still have nice rooms for 100-140 guests (looking at about a 110-120 minimum number).

Thanks in advance!!!!

We are getting married at Sans Souci, it is really nice, not your traditional catering hall though, no grand ceilings or anything like that but it has a beautiful cozy feeling that we fell in love with. There are pictures in my album if you want to take a look!

I booked with larkfield manor & have never been happier, we gar. 120 guests & they treat us like GOLD, even FH tells people about them! FM for details... not to mention the amazing price we got and we didn't have to compromise on anything!

I got married at Sans Souci
And it is perfect for that amount of people, i think i ended up with about 138 or so.

We had to guarantee 125 people for a saturday night
And its reasonable and the food is very good.

Its not your typical place, but its very quaint and very beautiful

Caffe on the Green in Bayside, Queens has an awesome upstairs room for a wedding with your size guest list. The grounds and view are beautiful, and the food is good, too. Plus ample parking and close to major highways.

Defintiely worth checking out if you're in the area...but make an appointment to meet with a banquet manager because there's only 1 and he/she is busy you may be waiting for a while.

Caffe on the Green's food is GREAT - we've been there a number of times with no complaints. That was our first choice when we were looking but we ended up booking with Westbury Manor. Very nice grounds and the menu was a change from the norm. Good luck!

from a bride who already had her wedding there, Larkfield Manor is terrific. The people are wonderful, the food is delicious, grounds beautiful for pictures. You can't go wrong with the place.

Check out the Winter Garden Pavilion at Fox Hollow (photos in my album). The room was stunning and I think that the min should be right about where you need to be depending on the date/day/time.

OH MY GOD to the Winter Garden Pavillion - that room took my breath away - and that's why we chose it!

Good luck!!!

Try Tall Grass Country Club. They are owned by Lessings and are very affordable. The room has high ceilings which was a must for me, but it has a very intimate feel.

I LOVE that place!

FM me if you need more info!

We had our wedding at Chateau Briand and were in the Saturnia room. Our Minimum was 110 and our cocktail hour was in the room nextdoor.

We also looked at :
-Milleridge Inn (the cottage and some of the other rooms).
-The Fox Hollow
- The Coral House (my friend had her wedding there and only had 60 people at her wedding)
