We just decided and blocked rooms for our OOT guests and I'm not sure what I should do about getting the word out!!!!
I already sent out the STD a few months ago. I really don't want to spend the $$ to send out another letter. Unfortunately I don't have email information for all of the guests.
I can probably answer this question myself but figured i'd see what everyone did/is doing.
I know March isn't an extremely busy month so there shouldn't be a problem with the hotel but if I wait until the invitations go out, does that really give enough time? The hotel will only hold the price until 1 month before the wedding.

Re: Best way to get the word out
i woudl send an e-mail....or call people you really know are going to book hotel rooms. i had a february wedding and the hotel was completely sold out the 2 weeks before our wedding... and a few people lost out.... granted, we still booked 40 rooms, but i would encourage people to book as soon as they know they're definitely staying,

Re: Best way to get the word out
i actually just got an invitiation for my friend's wedding and in the fold there was a card for the hotel and a separate card written by her i guess saying that they have reserved accomodations at that place and if anyone is interested they must reply by a certain date. Her wedding is only the first or second week of sept. and we just received it monday.

I feel silly because I basically know the answer....however now your email makes me a little nervous since you were married close to the same time as I will be next year.
I guess my first step would probably take a closer look at the list to figure it out.

take a look at the list and see... give those you think are really going to book an e-mail or heads up as to where you reserved the rooms.
ultimately, i wouldn't stress too much about it... they are the ones that have to take responsibility and book the rooms... it's not your job to worry about it....
the hotel will hold your block up until a month before... if you used up your block, (and we definitely did!) then people get whatever else is available.) or depending on how quickly they went, you could reserve anonther block.

My biggest concern is because we have so many 'maybe's' I have no clue who is actually going to need a room or who is going to end up staying with somone else. I'm just glad we don't need to guarantee anything.
We got a great deal at the hotel since we know someone that works there and I want people to take advantage of it
I booked our room for the wedding night and it was more than half the normal price.

Re: Best way to get the word out
On my STDs we had our wedding web page on it, and the info was on there. My invites are being maild this week and we put a card provided (and personalized i might add) by the hotel in the envelope with the invites.
