Best Western Massapequa-Hotels near Riviera???

I noticed a thread about hotels in the Garden City area...

Has anyone stayed at the newish Best Western in Massapequa? I'm sure it must be cheaper than The Courtyard Marriott. I'm worried about my guests too... My OOT guests will need two nights and that's pricey :(.

Re: Best Western Massapequa-Hotels near Riviera???

I don't know anyone that's stayed there since the renovations, but I did price it out for our wedding. Our room block expired on 10/3 so I just re-priced the following hotels about 3 weeks ago:

Best Western: Bar Harbour Inn (Massapequa)
$125 per night & I 'think' they quoted us at $119 w/a block

Huntington Hilton:
$139 with our room block / $189 per night without the block

Courtyard by Marriott at Republic Airport
Rate: $179 per night / $149 w/a room block

Melville Marriott
Rate: $169 per night / $149 with a room block

A friend of mine got married at the Riviera about 3 years ago & the staff there actually recommended that she block rooms at the Hilton since the price diff was only $10-$15, so that's what she did, but she didn't really have anyone that was staying for 2 nights so it was easier for her to make that decision, I think.

As for the Courtyard, we contacted them re: doing a block before they opened (so you'd think they'd WANT to block out rooms) and they told us they couldn't go any less than $149 a night. That might have changed since then, but at that point we decided to go with the Hilton since our RH is on the North Shore anyways. HTH!

Thanks! I may give my guests a choice - Best Western or Courtyard Marriott.

Re: Best Western Massapequa-Hotels near Riviera???

garden city is pretty far from massapequa to go after a wedding. there are hotels closer to the riviers; as a matter of fact, they just built a brand new one on rt. 110 in farmingdale. right by the republic airport. everything is there for them also. its a courtyard marriott....

Re: Best Western Massapequa-Hotels near Riviera???

Hi hall twin:

Courtyard : $149 a night, no budging. But if you book 10 rooms they will shuttle b/w hotel and Riviera

BW: My neighbor's sister said it was great: $112 - 2 queens or $152 for 2 queens and pull-out. Includes continental bfast.

Since some of FH's family is staying 2-3 nights I think we will pick BW.

Garden City is way too far for Massapequa!

Ugh, Why is Courtyard so damn pricey, no offense, but it's freaking FARMINGDALE, not some tropical island or fast paced city.

I want the free shuttle though!

Re: Best Western Massapequa-Hotels near Riviera???

Honestly, I may look into a shuttle (and pay myself) because I will have to pay for my parents room and aunt's room. This way I may be able to have the shuttle do an extra stop for my neighbors. I am inviting them with their kids and I if I do the shuttle they will be at least be able to drink. Plus I have to get my kids home, too. When I find some prices I will let you know if you're interested.
