my e-party is booked for 5/20...i sent out invitations about 3 weeks ago....and wouldn't you know i have not heard from a single person on my fiances side?!?! Our RSVP date is by 5/6 and it is to my parents (the hosts)!!!! 3 days left!!!
I will try to make this as short as possible. I called DF on monday and basically said whats up with ur family i haven't heard from anyone yet?? He sai he'll talk to his mother. His mother called tuesday night and first she told me that she was 'surprised' that she got an invitation and so was her daughter because it is just 'expected' that they will be there....hellllllllllooooooo--this is NOT their party---my parents are hosting---u got an invitation-----you need to RSVP anyway. His siter (older then me) laughed the invitation off and said that she would save it for a scrap book or something like that.... (the sister is the only one who officially RSVP'd and she did it to me at a dinner...never called my mom) Then his mother went on to tell me that so and so won't RSVP until the day before bc he is undergoing chemo and doesn't know how he will feel (totally fine---i completely understand). Then she told me a cousin RSVP'd to HER on saturday at a wedding....that she can't make it.
I'm sorry, maybe I am being dramatic, but the way i was raised was to RSVP to the person who sent the invitation by the date requested.
I am completely aggrivated---I had to guestimate the number of favors i need as well as printed menus ($$$$$$$$$$) and now I haven't heard from his frikkin family.....what do u think?? am i just being dramatic??

you are NOT being dramatic but there isnt really anything you can do at this point either....I hope these people don't pull this for your actual wedding invites also!

Take deep breath and relax. FH needs to communicate to his family the importance of RSVPing. I would be freaking out too if I had not heard from his side of the family & had to guesstimate everything. I don't think people always realize how much work goes into planning an event. Whether or not they are attending they should RSVP to your parents.

Re: BEYOND P-O'D!!! LONG.....
Maybe it is time to have a talk with FH and FMIL about etiquette... otherwise you could be facing the same problem with the wedding! Soooo not cool! Good luck getting it all straightened out, though! Best wishes for you!

Re: BEYOND P-O'D!!! LONG.....
I'm sorry. It is so frustrating! I went through the same thing last month when dealing with my engagement party. My party was also at my parents house. We basically had to stalk and torture people for RSVP's. Unfortunately people don't think they need to tell you, that you will 'just know'. I ended up adding to our final list by a few people so if extras did come it wouldn't be such an unexpected surprise.

that-is-what-i-am-affraid-offffffffffff!!!
these people drive me nuts sometimes!! and it aggrivates me even more that when i vent my frustrations to my FMIL, she just blows it off!!!! We have 300+ people on our guest list, she over-invited--and these people don't even have the courtesy to RSVP. I am so mad about it---maybe i'm just emotional because i have my boards soon...idk.

No matter what happens it is going to work out. We had extra people show up. We had over a hundred guest but you know what? That day you will be so happy you wont notice who responded and who didn't. It wont matter anymore. I know this is driving you crazy now, I made myself sick over mine. Have you FH handle his side. It sounds like you have enough to do.

Re: BEYOND P-O'D!!! LONG.....
That is so annoying and rude. I don't think you are being dramatic at all. I had the same issue. Thank God I had everyone RSVP to me though b/c I knew that would happen and I didn't want my mom to think badly (she is ridiculously judgmental). Well it was a good thing b/c FH's aunt called to RSVP at 6:30 a.m.! Who the hell does that?
Back to you...if I were you, I would make FH call everyone who has not RSVP'd and ask them. Wait until next week though. YOu still have a few days. Good luck!

Re: BEYOND P-O'D!!! LONG.....
thanks u guys...i think i'm just super emotional right now because all i have time to do is study--my best best best friend had surgery yesterday--i was in the hospital with her all day----i had a test this morning--a final on monday--boards soon---engagement party---DF is in the police academy (Stressful)---just so much going on and i get no cooperation from his parents--just aggrivation. Things are only a big deal when it affects them---all of my issues are passed off as petty and it just gets to me sometimes. I just feel like this is very disrespectful to my parents. I swear---if it was up to me i'd hire a bouncer or something with a VIP list--if they didnt RSVP--they don't get in hahahahaha ok now i'm just being a beast lol

Re: BEYOND P-O'D!!! LONG.....
I fully understand how you feel. I have to deal with this this month for my eparty as well. The way we are going to work it out is simple: I will be responsible for calling my guests that have failed to RSVP and Billy will have to call his. I know that he will get so annoyed that he will make it clear to his guests that they better call and RSVP the right way for the wedding. No one wants to have to waste their time putting in calls to all these people when we have so many other more important things to be doing in preparation of the party.
You should make FH call his own guests. Why stress yourself out?

Re: BEYOND P-O'D!!! LONG.....
I totally understand my FH's familly tool forever to RSVP to our e-party. They were calling up until the last minute. Which there was no reason for since we sent out the inivites really early since our e-party was in July I wanted people to have andvance notice -- but still they didn't respond until late, after the RSVP date. Can't wait to see how wedding responses are.
Also I sent invites to everyone -- I figured his parents and siblings wouls want them to save as a momento. Your FIL's should'nt have over-reacted at that.
