Bill Levkoff dress sizing?

So my bridesmaids live all over the country and recently phoned in their measurements to my bridal salon. They've all called me with concern that the salon seems to be taking their measurements and giving them dresses that are way too big.

1st example- my friend who is a 00P was told she'd need a 4/6
2nd example- a friend who is a size 6 was told she needed a 12.

Does anyone know if Bill Levkoff dresses run really, really small? I'm playing phone tag with my bridal salon to talk to a manager, but I'm getting pretty nervous that my girls are going to be wearing the most ill-fitting dresses of all time!

I usually where a 0 or 2 in jeans (110 lbs, jsut under 5'4) and I just wore a BL 2 weeks ago. They ordered me a 4 and I had to have taken in on the sides on top and hem. does that help??!!!

Bridal salons usually order a bigger size so they can make more $$$ on alterations. I am a street size 4 and when I wore a Bill Levkoff BM dress they ordered me a size 10. I was pissed because I knew it would be huge and they ended up having to take so much in that it messed up the dress. I think I would have been able to squeeze into a 6.

i don't know about Bill Levkoff dresses but i know about Lazaro dresses.

my sister is a size 0 & in her Lazaro dress she was ordered a size 4.
my cousin is a size 4 & in her Lazaro dress she was ordered a size 10.

bottom line these dresses are not true to what size you wear. remember you can always take a dress in but you can't let it out. also you are sized according to your biggest measurement.

i know the place i ordered from let my other cousin pick her size, but she has to sign off on it & they told her that if they have to let the dress out there is an additional $55 charge, separate from the alterations.

I am a street size 6 or 8 and I wore a Bill Levkoff dress in a 10 for my brother's wedding last year. It fit perfectly.

If you feel more comfortable you can always have your girls measure themselves by finding a sizing chart online. At least they can see for themselves...

A LOT of designers do that... either their dress sizes are just way off to begin with or they order the dress too big to make money on alterations

I just wore BL for a wedding I was in, and per the measurements, one of the other girls was supposed to get a size 14, but tried on the sample size 8 and that fit so she ordered that!

I am usually a 4/6 but ordered an 8 and had to get the top taken in A LOT b/c i have no boobs.

That's a good idea. I might send one out to the girls that were really concerned. I just went over some of the measurements with Burton's and I think they were pretty close to right. I think some of my girls measurements are just plain wrong and I'm asking them to re-do them. Thanks for the help everyone!

My BP just ordered BL dresses last week

my sister who is super skinny maybe 100lbs needed a size 6 mainy to fit her boobs. They have to order it for the biggest part of the body.

Suggestion: Have girls go to bridal stores near them and try on samles and compare the size of the same, how they fit to the size ordered

i think all bridal gowns, or bm dresses run small but i also think these places place orders in way bigger sizes to make money off of alterations... what a scam

I am a street 0/00 and when I was in a wedding party, I took a 4 b/c of my chest.
They base the size on the biggest measurement on you...

Hi! I worked in a dress store for a couple years and i can tell you that his sizing is very different from normal clothing! His cuts are european junior cuts and they often run at least 2 sizes different than regular clothes. Also, i wouldnt always assume the store is trying to make money on your alterations. I was taught that you ahve to account for the largest measurement So let's say your hips are much larger than your chest, I would have to order you the larger size tht would fit your hips and then take in on top. Hope that makes sense!

I am usually a size 3 in jeans and for my sis's wedding, i wore a BL dress and they ordered me a size 10! It had to be taken in so much and the dress fit awkwardly after that. I would have your BM's measure themselves and go by the sizing chart on the site definitely!
