I have a BM that is 5'8 do you think she'll need to order extra length on her dress? Any experience with tall BM's and this line?
Please help, I don't want her to waste money on extra length only to have it cut off.
TIA

This is always a tough one... One of my BM's is 5'7ish and they made her order more material for our dresses for another wedding we were both in.. The maker was Lazaro...I personally would err on the side of caution and pay the extra $$...They charged her $15 I think to have more material ordered..

yes, yes, yes, yes ,yes. There is nothing worse then having to run out and new buy shoes at the last minute because the dress store assures you the dress will be long enough and its not. It has been 3 years and I am still a little bitter. So I say get the extra length. it is better to be safe then sorry

Re: Bill Levkoff on TALL GIRLS
I just ordered my 5'10'' girl the regular length, not even thinking about it - the dress was fine on me (I'm 5'8-5'9''ish). I will see if I can change to extra length if she wants it.

Re: Bill Levkoff on TALL GIRLS
In general no..... they always make bridal and BM gowns too long. I'm 5'9'', and one of my former BM horror stories was when they guessed my size w/o measuring and ordered 2 sizes too big, and extra length. I had to have 6' cut from the hem.
If the girls are over 5'10', then you may be entering extra length territory, but to date, I have never had a 'too short' issue with any item of clothing I have tried on, other than a swimsuit (a torso thing...) Case in point: my wedding dress is the perfect length for me to wear 1-2 inch heels....
I only need to bustle!

My girls dressesa re Bill Levkoff and they made the 5'9ish girl order extra length...and of course my friend who is almost 6 feet tall! I would say its better to have more than less! god forbid it is too short what do you do? If it is too long, it can always be taken in
(sorry if someone already said this..>I am rushing throiugh reading these because my boss will be back sooN!)

Re: Bill Levkoff on TALL GIRLS
My BM's are in Levekoff dresses. FSIL is 5'7' and the salon ordered her a tall/long dress. It hasn't come in yet so I am not sure how it's going to fit. It's always better to order more legnth than less
ETA: You can also use the extra fabric to wrap the base of your bm's bo-k's. It's a really nice touch.

Re: Bill Levkoff on TALL GIRLS
My friend wore a Bill Levkoff dress she's 5'10 and did not order extra length and it was perfect. A lot of the times they end up cutting most of it off. She should be fine if she doesnt wear very high heels.

Re: Bill Levkoff on TALL GIRLS
I'm 5'9' and they always try to talk me into the extra length. I don't order it and the length ends up being perfect. I usually wear 2-3 inch heels.

Re: Bill Levkoff on TALL GIRLS
Make sure they try on the dress in a size close to their own. I'm just under six feet tall, and I assumed I'd have to get extra length on my wedding gown, and I was prepared for the extra cost. What I wasn't prepared for was that the gown fit! I was shocked. True, I'm only planning on wearing 1' heels as my fiance is less than 2' taller than I am, but, who the hell are they making these gowns for if they fit me? I even went up silghtly on my toes to simulate a 1' heel (I didn't have shoes with me, stupidly) and the length was even more perfect. Then they measured me anyway for the hollow to hem, and the dresses' length was exactly what they would have ordered for me in a 1' heel. Go figure. If I wasn't getting a migraine when I left the Wedding Center (not their fault at all) I would have danced out of there. I was totally prepared for loads of money in alterations and extra length, only to find out that they had my size to try on and it fit me pretty much perfectly. :-O
So--have them try on the dress with the approximate heels they plan on wearing. You might be surprised. After all, you don't want to pay for the dress with the extra length and then pay to get it cut off in alterations!

I am 5'9 almost 5'10 and I really havent had any problems with dresses. They havent had to pull the hem down for me yet. Just remeber that some dresses you can pull the hem.
I have worn Jessica McClintock as a BM and Ole Cassini as a BM and they both were fine for my height. It may depend on the dress maker but I think that your BM should be fine!
What i really hate is that they make you order a size bigger just incase yougain weight...but then you have to pay for an alteration that you never really needed if they had let you order the smaller size.

Re: Bill Levkoff on TALL GIRLS
I picked out Bill Levkoff BM Dresses, everyone over 5' 7' had to order extra material. Our dresses came in and the grils are glad they ordered extra material because shoe heels will not be an issue

It depends if they will wear high heels with them. One of my BM's was 5'7 and she wore 1.5 inch heels and she was ok.

You don't have to--with my wedding gown, they REALLY wanted me to order the next size, but it was really big on me, and right now I'm bigger than I've been in a long time. I had to cut back on my running this summer and fall because of illness, but I plan on losing twenty pounds this winter and spring. The salesladies rolled their eyes at that, and, you know, it's OK as I'm sure they've seen a million brides come in after swearing they were going to lose weight and being shocked when their gown didn't fit because they gained. Yikes! But I know I can lose the weight, I've done it before. Besides, the smaller size fit me, it was just tight. They made me sign a waiver saying that I knew they recommended the larger size, and that it's not their fault if I don't fit into the dress when it arrives. As long as the dress fits like it should, I'll be fine. If I had gotten the larger size, I would have had to pay $100 extra for a 'plus size' premium in addition to the alterations to make it smaller. No way. You just have to be firm with them--they can't make you order any particular size. If they try to insist, walk out. Part of me understands that it's easier to make a bigger dress fit than a small one, but I also know they were thinking of all the money in alterations they could soak me for.
