I'm totally a fan of the birdcage veil. I plan on wearing one for my wedding. I'm leaving mine on for the beginning of the reception and detaching the veil and wearing the feather fastinator for the rest of the night.
I wore a birdcage similiar to the second pic. I only wore it for the ceremony and just wore the fascinator for the reception.

Re: Birdcage Veil - Need your opinions
Love the birdcage!
I wore an all lace dress and a plain cathedral veil...there was nothing on it..so it looked like mist! It was so beautiful!
I only work it for the ceremony, obviously. I had a flower in my hair the whole night.
We don't have our pro-proofs yet as our wedding was just a month ago...but there should be some non-pro pics that show the overall look. There are def pics of my veil and lace dress.
Check it out if you want an idea of how a traditional veil looks with all lace.
My dress is all lace, and the elbow length plain veil looked best. The birdcage did not look right with it at all!

Re: Birdcage Veil - Need your opinions
Thanks for all your help! I should preface that my wedding will not be in a church but rather outside. I do love the long veils, just not sure it will work with my setting!
Any ladies with lace dresses have pics of the birdcage look?
