Birth Certificate and Passport

I need to get my passport for my honeymoon. Unfortunately, I need to send in my birthcertificate for my passport (My FH already did this and has no birth certificate now!)
If I don't have my birth certificate - I can't get my marriage license!
Anyone know what to do? Thanks!

If your town hall isn't far from you, you can always request a new one. I know that the Port Jeff town hall does it while you wait and it's $10...nice and easy for a backup.

Re: Birth Certificate and Passport

If you were born in nyc go to the dept of health. I did it a month ago.

Birth Certificates
Where do I obtain a birth certificate copy for someone born in New York City?
The New York State Department of Health does not file and cannot issue copies of New York City birth certificates. For births in one of the five (5) boroughs of New York City (Manhattan, Kings, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island), please visit the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene web site. Please note that the borough of Kings is sometimes referred to as Brooklyn and the borough of Staten Island is sometimes referred to as Richmond.

Where do I obtain a birth certificate copy for someone born in New York State outside of New York City?
For genealogy or family history copies, please visit our Genealogy web page.
For certified birth certificate copies, please continue.
Who is eligible to obtain a birth certificate copy?

For Priority Handling: There is an additional fee of $15.00 per birth certificate copy. (Total per copy is $45.00)

There is an additional $11.95 vendor processing fee which is charged per transaction (not per copy).

Re: Birth Certificate and Passport

1. Expedite your passport. Mine took 1 week to come, but the usual time is 4 weeks if you pay to have it expedited.

2. Get your passport at the Passport Agency same day. Check the rules - you have to pay a lot more and you may have to do it within 14 days of travel (so closer to your honeymoon)

3. Some passport expediting services will get you your passport within a few days - look into those.

4. Get an additional copy of your BC.

5. Remember, you still need your passport for the honeymoon -- so if you arrange to get your passport back in enough time, you should have enough time to get your marriage license. (They literally send it back in the same envelope together). You can get your marriage license anywhere from 60 days before the wedding to 2 days before. (There's a 24-hour waiting period - to be safe, get it at least 2 days before)
