birth Control

I have my 6 week checkup tomorrow so I am sure this will be answered, but I was wondering what you guys all do. I am breastfeeding as you know - and the baby is 6 weeks old. I guess I will get the greenlight to continue 'relations' after tomorrow.

How do I handle birth control? I dont' want to depend on 'you can't get pregnant while breastfeeding' thing. Is that true? I dont 'want to risk it...I guess I can't go back on the pill obviously. Condoms? God I haven't used condoms for YEARS! What does everybody do?

When you are BFing, there is a progesterone only pill that you can take for BC. It is called the 'mini pill.' The annoying thing about it is that because it is only prog and not estrogen too, you have to be careful to take it at the same time every day- it is not very forgiving in terms of forgetting and not taking it on a schedule.

Of course there is also condoms. An IUD is a possibility, especially if you don't think you want to get pregnant for a few years.

You are very smart to be worried about this. BFing is NOT good BC at all. Good luck at the MD. Can't believe it's been 6 weeks already!
