I just got onto Femcon mint chewables because my normal Ovcon went off patent (its the same brand). .
Same with me. I loved Ovcon. Only been on Femcom 2 months. So far so good.

Re: Birth Control
I can't take Birth Control b/c I have blood clotting issues, but I know people who are happy with an IUD.

Definitely talk to your doc about what has happened in the past. New stuff is out so there are always other options.

Re: Birth Control
I, of course, will talk to my gyno, but I feel like every gyno I've been to in the past decade of going to gynos has been a birth control salesman and I've never felt like they could predict what would be better for me. So, if there is anyone out there like me, it's always helpful to learn that maybe I'm not alone and there might be some bc that will eventually work for me (because I definitely have spent the past few years thinking that it never will).
On that note, if anyone can recommend a gyno that they felt had a good sense for which birth controls would work best for particular types of women, I'd love to know about it. I'm in the Huntington area, work in Garden City, and parents are in Port Jeff, so anywhere in between!
I have a GREAT gyno in Port Jeff....Dr. Patton! I have been to gynos from Riverhead to Far Rockaway and he actually listens and doesn't just try to sell you something, but figures out what works best for you! He also specializes in Bio-identical hormones and if you have him run a blood panel on you, he can base your bc on your levels of hormones, allowing him to decide which will have the least to little side effects! I have had gyno issues since I am 14 and have had some many doctors and surgeries, I can't even begin to tell you! I have finally found a dr. who never jumps the gun, looks into everything, and takes time to listen! Under his care, I have been healthy for nearly a year where as this time last year with another GYN I had already gone through 6 surgeries in 9 months! If you want more info....FM me!

Re: Birth Control
I started the YAZ thread so I'll bump it for you! I am currently on Yasmin but was told by my gyno that I should switch to YAZ for shorter periods. I am very nervous about switching because I LOVE Yasmin- have had noooo side effects what so ever- and have been on it for YEARS... but... I get my period for a full week and that is a little annoying. My DR said that I should only get it for 2-3 days on YAZ... so I think I will give it a try AFTER my wedding. I have heard you can have breakthrough bleeding and stuff which makes me veryyy nervous! I feel like I will have to wear a tampon even when I dont have my period if I am wearing something light colored just to be safe!?? But I would recommend trying Yasmin for now- I am very happy with it.

Re: Birth Control
i'm on Yasmin (NOT yaz) and i absolutely LOVE it. my doctor reccomended Yasmin over Yaz(even though its the newer version) because she said girls had very mixed reviews...while some Loved yaz, others experienced severe cramping & abdominal pain(which may be caused from shortening your period). ANYWAYS, she told me Yasmin was a popular choice & had very low %'s of ladies gaining weight (i was FEARING gaining since i was only starting 3months before our wedding) so i went with it...I absolutely LOVE it...i dont even feel like i have my period when i get it(took away all my cramps and made it lighter & more regular), and only effected my mood the very first month i was on it(which is normal because all ur hormones are changing). All my cousins & friends are on it too ...they only had positive things to say about it (which is why i asked my doctor about it.) Definetly try it out
