Okay so i have a question about birth control and the different types of them. I am afraid to go onto it bc i know some of them cause weight gain and thats the last thing i need right now with my wedding being two weeks away!! But i was curious to know whether this is actually true...any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

Re: birth control
honestly, every pill is different for everyone. this is one of those questions you should really speak with your doctor about--as they can look at your history and figure out the best one for you.
like one woman could gain weight on one type of BCP--while another could take the same one and lose weight and have their skin clear up. it all depends on the person.

Re: birth control
It def. is different for everyone. I was on 3 different pills in the begining until they found one that worked well for me. I ended up on Ortho Lo and loved it, maitained my headaches, my mood swings, all that good stuff...i didn't gain weight but my doctor told me that is a myth and you gain weight if you want to gain weight. I didn't, I just gained a boob size which was great .

Re: birth control
Everyone reacts to the pills different. I've been on a few through the years, but I keep going back to ORTHO TRI-CYCLEN. It works the best for me. I would recommend trying ORTHO TRI-CYCLEN LO.

It really depends on your body. I took ortho tri cyclen lo for 4 years and it worked wonders! I also tried yaz and it did what it said with pms symptoms and worked great as well. I personally did not gain any weight.

Re: birth control
Finding the right birth control is all trial and error--people's bodies react differently to certain types. You need to talk to your doctor about the right one for you and what would be best, but keep in mind the right one may not be the first one you are prescribed.
As for weight gain...if you do gain weight, it's not usually a lot. In addition, the weight gain does not last forever...it's actually a product your body adjusting to the pill...the weight gain usually levels off and you go back to normal after a few months.

Re: birth control
if ur going on the pill for the wedding in particular, its only 2 wks away, but remember it takes more time than that for it to be safe enough to just use on its own, my obgyn said about a month, and it takes even long for your body to adjust to it, about 3 mos. again, everyone's different.
im on loestrin24fe (its low dose) and its been great after the intial adjustment (first 3 mos- emotional, headaches, spotting, etc). i didn't gain weight. and i barely get a period at all now. sometimes nothing. and no, its not like youre just backed up and not getting rid of it, as my obgyn explained that this pill doesn't allow for all the build up.

and also, i mean don't expect that all of that will happen for you during that adjustment period. everyone's diff! you may not experience any of it. i really like that its a low dose. alot of ppl think that means its less effective, but its not! you just need to take it regularly, same time w/o messing with it, etc. Like any other pill.

I'm also on Loestrin 24 and it works amazing for me. I haven't had a real period in years, which my Dr, said no problem and my mood swings are gone. It's like an amazing pill besides for birth control. I highly recommend it to anyone who like me, would end my relationship every month at the same time. I started to think I was crazy and so emotional over every little thing I wanted the relationship over. Thank god I found this pill before I found my finace. He never has had to see that side of me. Now I spoke with my Dr. about going off the pill to get pregnant and she said the best time is the first 3 months off the pill. I'm probably going off the month before the wedding.

Re: birth control
I am on loestrin 24 too and I did gain a few pounds but that may have been a result of eating bad. Also I have only noticed weight gain 3-4 months in. You will be fine because 2 weeks is nothing...your body is still adjusting to it.
Also like someone said above...it is not effective until your 2nd pack of pills...so keep that in mind!

Re: birth control
I never gained weight on any of the BCP I was on.
The only one I ever gained weight on was the depo shot. I thought you gained 1-10 pounds on it, not realizing that you could gain that PER SHOT.
After 10 shots, I had gained 40 pounds (4 lbs. PER SHOT!)

I am on Loestrin 24 as well. I have not experienced any weight gain...
However, its so good to know that you ladies are experiencing the same thing i am while taking Loestrin 24... i was actually going to visit my doctor this week because i've noticed that i have not had my period in about 4 months! They always used to be really light, and for one day only.... but then eventually just stopped all together... So i was starting to think maybe something was wrong with me!!!...

Re: birth control
My friend also gained 20lbs with the shots (she's REALLY small), but it seriously peeled right off just as fast once she stopped.

Nuvaring all the way. but everything does work differently for everyone. Ortho Tri cyclen made me gain weight but did wonders for my skin.
Just bear in mind that they all have side effects, they can all kill you----blood clots, strokes, heart attacks and the list goes on

Re: birth control
You should talk to your doctor, but I have been on yasmin, for years & love it, no side effect, many of my friends on it also & love it, but why are you going to start 2 weeks before your wedding?, it takes 60 days to truley work & during those months, you can cramp. spot or all together get a unexpected period...that would Suck!!!
