Hey Jen, How are you? Chelsea handler in 1 week!, Yeah! You usually need 3 months advance time in order to be able to play with moving your periods, as per my gyn.

Re: Birth control
I was on the pill for 4 years before my wedding and decided to 'play around' with my pills in order to push it forward so I wouldnt have it on my wedding or HM. Well I guess with the stress of buying a house and getting married all within the same month, the stress and forgetting to take 2 pills gave me my period the week of my wedding. It came a week late and I was sooo p!ssed. Honestly when it came to the wedding day that was the last thing on my mind and it was gone by the time I went on my HM.
My advice...if you are not already on it, dont try it now. Its gonna throw your body off trying to find the right pill thats gonna work for you and you might just end up with your period anyway.
