Bittersweet news....

Bittersweet news....

Please don't quote me, I'll probably take this down later because I don't think I'm supposed to be sharing with anyone right now....

As most of you know my younger sister recently dropped out of my bridal party. That leaves me with two girls - my older sister, matron of honor, and my friend, bridesmaid. So before I went to visit my sister last week she told us fantastic news.... she's pregnant!!!!!

Now here's the not so good news... she's due six days before my wedding and she lives in Charlotte, NC so there is a pretty good chance I'm walking down the aisle MOH and sisterless with only one bridesmaid.

I'm sooooooooooooo incredibly happy she's going to have a baby - really, no one could be as happy as me but I feel like I can't think about anything wedding related anymore because the thought of getting married without her by my side is too much and I keep crying all the time.

I hope I don't sound like a big baby, I'm just really going to feel sad if my big sister can't be there.

Oh no - that is such a tough one. That happened in our family too. But my one sister had the baby 2 weeks after the wedding so she was able to go - she just ended up being the only sister not in the wedding party. I can totally understand you being so bummed (while also being happy for her situation). Bottom line is life happens and we have to adapt to some of these things, though it's not easy to I know. I'm sorry you are in this predicament.

Yay for her but that stinks because being so close how will she make it!?? I understand that you are sad.....I am sure she is sad that you may not be there when she has the baby.

BUG HUGS TO YOU!!!!! Maybe the docs are wrong about the due date or something.

Wow, that is a tough one. I definitely understand how you are feeling in light of your recent troubles. I'm sure if she could be there, she would...hopefully everything will somehow work out.

Thanks girls! I keep telling her she's having octuplets and she's going to deliver early and have to move back to NY. I miss her so much on a regular basis, I can't imagine how much I'd miss her on the wedding day!

Congrats to her on her pregnancy! However, I am so sorry- is there any other person you feel so close to that can be there? I know no one can replace your Sister but maybe there is someone who would love to be your MOH and or BM.

My mom keeps telling me she'll stand in and honestly, my mom is my best friend in the whole world so that wouldnt be bad... I would just feel terrible in the whole situation... everyone itching to go see the new baby (the FIRST grandbaby in the family!) in NC but still wanting to enjoy the wedding day. Hopefully it won't come to that though!

Ohhh that would be really really sweet if your Mom stood in with you- that makes it so nice and personal I think. Your day will still be your day and then afterwards, you can focus on your new Neice / Nephew!

aww, that is so exactly the perfect word 'bittersweet' ...i dont' remember who said that but...

i'm sorry that there's even a chance that she might not be with you, and that you might not be with her for the birth. that's so hard. and i'm not in the situation, so i can't just put a positive spin on it and feel like it's all better, BUT, when you are less torn up about it, try to keep this close to your heart: things do have a way of working out exactly as they should. and your family will be doubly blessed, no matter which way you cut it. but in the meantime...

Thank you. I'm a big pray-er but I feel guilty praying and asking that she either delivers before and is able to make it or holds out and delivers later.... it seems selfish, am I crazy?

I told her just come back to NY for the whole month of October... the baby can have a NY birth certificate like her and her dh and my mom would pamper her like crazy leading up to the birth!

Awww, Angela, I understand!!!! As for me, you're not a baby, and should feel free to express how you feel!!!! You're among gals who care about you!!!! Mary MOB

PS As for feeling guilty about praying, I'm sure THE LORD WHO loves you, understands!!!!!!

you're not a big baby... that is disappointing! there is actually a website- i read about it modern bride- where you can post a live feed online of your wedding... this way if she can't make it she can watch you online in spirit!!!

Thanks Mary! I just read the Jon and Kate plus Eight book and she talks about how at different times she thought God was testing her but later she saw that He was doing things for a reason.... her husband got laid off right before she delivered her sextuplets and she didn't understand how God could do that... later she saw that God knew Jon was needed.

I have to say, I experienced something very similar recently. I came back from seeing my sister in NC, sad that we'll never be able to afford a beautiful house in NY and got mad and fought with FH about wanting to move down to NC.

The next day FH got raise that will equate to about 10% more of his current salary AFTER his job pays for him to take Microsoft certification courses on computer stuff (and the classes themselves are a lot too!). Here I was thinking, God why are you making it so hard? and not 24 hours later He answered!

That might be very very necessary! Thanks!
