Is a black MOB dress ok?? My mom picked her dress, but we just need to decide on the color. The sample is in black and I like it. The other two colors she picked out is Navy Blue and shimmery purple

I'd personally like a dress in a color other than black and of course white. But if u like the style of the dress and it comes in black only, then go for it. How does ur mom feel about wearing black?

My mom was originally going with black. The saleslady made a good point thAt others would be in black. My mom ended up loving the platinum on her, but if not black was a great option.

I say what ever dress she likes. Totally up to you. I told my Mom I wanted her to get a pretty lilac or levender dress. My colors are purple and green and I thought the lavender would complement my colors and look nice.

Eh, my mom would probably not wear black. I've seen a lot of MOBs in Navy lately, though
Black is fine, but it wouldn't be my first choice

Sure why not! I know according to 'tradition' it's bad luck for the MOB to wear black at a wedding (actually for anyone to) but whatever - if you like it, and your mom likes it, do it!
My mom would have liked to wear a black dress but the BMs will be wearing black so she doesn't want to match them.

thanks ladies for all of your responses. My Mom thought that she shouldn't wear black (but i wasn't crazy about the other colors the dress comes in).
maybe we can settle with Navy.
Also, I told FH about it last night. His response:
'Your Mom can't wear black!!'
What does he know. . . . .

I think as long as its ok with you (you dont see it as bad luck or anything) then its totally fine! The only reason my mom couldnt wear black is that my bridesmaids are
