Black Forest Bakery

So, FH and I knew we wanted carrot cake for our wedding cake....so when we went to the bakery we did not sample anything, just placed the order (our venue uses this bakery). The bakery did however provide us with a sample cake this weekend, and when we tasted it we were extreamly disappointed with the flavor.

I have no issues choosing another flavor, but I am wondering if the bakery will let me sample some different options?

What flavors and fillings are you fellow black forest brides having?

FH wants a funfetti cake for our main cake. With that we picked their strawberry preserves for some layers and the vanilla pudding for others.

We are also ordering an anniversary cake for some family members that will be carrot cake (although we did not sample the carrot cake).

When we went for our 'tasting' I wasn't really crazy about it. They asked if we wanted chocolate or vanilla and then let us pick 3 or 4 fillings to sample from the list of like 30 or 40 fillings.

I am definitely going back to try their carrot cake and more fillings.

We didn't use this bakery for our wedding cake, however, our RD location uses them. I would go back to make sure that you are happy with the flavors. Although our cake tasted good, the flavors were not correct. I don't know where the breakdown in communication was - either with the RD or with the bakery - if I were you, I'd want to be sure.

We are using black forest bakery, and we didn't get to try anything when we went in. I was a little disappointed.

We used Black Forest and we did get to try several combinations when we went in for our consultation...we ultimately ended up with white cake, buttercream frosting with raspberry preserve and lemon mousse filling. It was the best cake I've ever had!

Good luck, I'm sure they'll work with you to find something you're happy with...
