Do you think black and silver is too gloomy for a wedding? Do you think it gives an elegant effect? What colors are other brides out there using? if not balck and silver maybe black and ivory. thanks for your help.

I personally do NOT think it is gloomy at all!!! But of course more appropriate for an evening affair, rather than an afternoon one. My girls are in black/white and they will be carrying bouquets tied with silver ribbon. I am getting married in the winter, which also influenced my decision. I say go for it!!!!!! I got my girls Jessica McClintock dresses that are stunning - and they were a great price too! Good luck!

i don't think it's gloomy at all, I think it's nice and classy looking. My bridesmaids are wearing silver and the moms are probably going to wear black. The flowers are reds. My wedding is in February at night. I don't think it would be wonderful for a daytime wedding in the summer.

Actually -- black & silver are my wedding colors! My bridesmaids are wearing seperates from Jim Hjelm w/ silver tops & black bottoms -- and the groomsmen will be in black tuxes with silver ties.
Anyway - I based my colors on my gown -- which has beautiful silver beadwork on it -- and the fact that I believe silver & black will be elegant. Anyway -- right now I'm trying to decide on flowers -- since with these colors anything will do.

my bridesmaids will all be in black (the moms are wearing whatever color they want). The tuxes are going to be black with maroon ties/vests and the girls flowers are going to be maroon and white, the groom is wearing silver tie and vest - there is a little silver in my white dress.

I think black is fine and silver as well but only for a formal evening affair. If you are having a Sunday afternoon garden wedding then it would not fit the occassion. But for a formal evening affair it will look very nice.
