Re: Anyone worried about having a guest that will steal your thunder?
People get over it fast enough. They are star struck until they realise that the person walks talks and smells like us. Have no worries!! And don't most people at your wedding know who your boss is? They will expect to see boss and get over it even faster.

The reason they ask you is because they are too chicken to do it themselves. Not to mention, unfortunately, your boss should be used to it and politely never mention it if it should happen. It is something that goes with the job description...

Always here for a good vent. And when the family calls to collect on the promises you can laugh at them! At least they won't be making a fool out of themselves with strangers!!!! People are silly, but it will not ruin your day unless you let it. i'm sure I'll have the drunken friend hitting on my aunt and passing out under the table! But I have made the resolve to make sure I personally take the picture to blackmail him with later!!!

well - my mom had a miss universe at her wedding to my dad and the woman wore a bright red b o o b showing slit up to the nether region dress and my mom still was the star of the day. Like someone said above, it is your wedding they are there for. You will be the star.

Re: Anyone worried about having a guest that will steal your thunder?
The only guest at I am worried about stealing my thunder is a slutty drunk friend of mine, not someone famous.
I am also a bit worried because I used to work for a Judge and I have some family who would ask him for favors or try to impress him. He's not a well known person, though.
All I am doing about both of the people I've mentioned is that I am going to be very careful/strategic about where these people are seated. What else can I really do?
As for your situation, I would hope that people have some respect and just let the person enjoy his/her time at your wedding!! Also, I am sure that s/he must be quite skilled at handling such situations.
My only advice is to seat the famous person with people you trust.

He'll be seated with my colleagues - in the company of people he knows, and far from the favor askers
ETS: Sorry about your slutty drinking friend - unfortunately, we have seem to have one of those, but most of the time, people see what a jackass they make of themselves and ignore it (or talk about her the next day!)

Ok, and like I said, he is probably used to this and prepared to handle it.

Right, I know he gets it all the time, but a lot more embarassing when it's my family, and when I have to see him every day. I know I shouldn't bother stressing over this, I just get anxious mixing work & personal life.

Re: Anyone worried about having a guest that will steal your thunder?
It's funny you should mention this but to be honest- this is one of my biggest stressors-my 'guest' isn't famous but just thinks he is.....and he happens to be an ex! During one of our friends weddings about a year ago, the couple had a Frank sinatra singer, this ex goes running up to the singer in the middle of the song, gets on his knees and starts saying 'We're not worthy, we're not worthy' in front of the entire reception. It was funny and I guess it was expected for him to do something stupid but my whole thing is not stealing my thunder but stealing my FH. My thought is that out of everyone he should be the center of attention but I know this ex has to be grinding people on the dancefloor doing things that will only land him in the center. I know i shouldn't have invited him but unfortunately we're in the same group of friends. So, I hear you!
