My FH and I both came into the relationship with children and we had 1 of our own together. I wanted to do something to signify the coming together of the 2 families. I really didnt want to light a unity candel because our youngest will be 3 and I have a bad feeling about the fire.
Please tell me the truth about what you think...I thought about my FH saying vows to the children after we say our vows to eachother. This would now mean we would have to write something meaningful but i think we will be ok. we both are terrible with this

Re: Blended families????
What about doing like a sand ceremony, where all the kids has there own color sand and they all pour it into a bigger jar.

I agree with the previous poster. I think a Sand Ceremony would be a very nice and appropriate way of going about this.

Re: Blended families????
I saw on a Whose wedding is it anyway a necklace giving ceremony that was really sweet. They gave the kids necklaces to make them feel part of the ceremony.

I actually like the idea of doing some sort of family vows after you say your own. I think its unique and I like what it symbolizes.

Re: Blended families????
I opted out of sand ceremony due to time constraints and Fh wanted it to be more about us (it's his kids). So he agreed that I will give them necklaces and I spoke to officiant and we picked out what he would say.

I think the sand idea is so cute! I never heard of that before, but it seems like they will all feel very involved and have fun doing it too
