Blocking hotel rooms

Blocking hotel rooms

I want to start looking into hotels, but I don't know how the process works.

Do you make an appointment with someone or is it all done over the phone?

Can anyone recommend a hotel near larkfield manor?

I would start by making a list of places and calling them for prices. Once you narrow it down to a few I would then go and see them.
That's what FH and I are doing.

we found 2 hotels close to my RH and called and made appts. We went to each and picked which one we liked best. They'll help you with how many rooms to block ,etc

Re: Blocking hotel rooms

definitely call the hotels first!

-ask about prices
-how many rooms you can block
-if you need to block for more than one night
-if they have transportation for guests (if needed)
-when check-in and check-out is
-make sure you DO NOT have to sign a contract
and are not obligated to pay for rooms not used!
-if they offer a brunch menu

if they meet everything you want, then make an appointment to meet and check out the rooms. good luck!

Some places will give you prices over the phone, but I think its better when you meet with them in person. It gives you the opportunity to see the hotel and try to bargain with them. FH and I were free one day and just dropped in on one hotel. They were glad to help us right on the spot, others we needed appointments for.

I went onto discoverlongisland.com and found the link for 'event planning' and when you fill out an info sheet, they forward it to hotels and hotels contact you, it was great!

Negotiate!!!! Our hotel originally quoted me $135 a night. DH called around and got comparison quotes from other hotels and called them back. They went down to $119 a night.

The rate they give you is based on their occupancy for that night, so the earlier you book, the better the rate you will get because managers want to fill as many room nights as they can get. We booked our block about six months in advance.

Also, make sure your immediate family, out of town guests and bridal party members know about the reservation deadline!!! If the rooms in your block are not booked by that date, the hotel will release the rooms for general booking. Some of our guests called in late and were quoted $178 a night.

Ultimately, there were three wedding blocks booked at our hotel during our wedding weekend. Who knew November was such a hot month? A week before the wedding, the hotel was completely sold out.

Where did you locate the event planning on that website? I see sports event planning and then a section for Meeting Planners.

How far along before the wedding should you book the block for the rooms?

They usually release the rooms a month before the date of event so 2 months or more is a good time frame. however when i went to the one i wanted it was booked already, so i say the earlier the better.
