Blocking Hotel rooms
I have been calling around and looking online, and have found that the group rate hotels are giving me are the same rates as if I were to book online today. Is this how group rates usually are? I'm getting frustrated with trying to get a decent hotel for a decent price in mid-suffolk

What happens if you block 10 rooms and they don't get filled?

Re: Blocking Hotel rooms
They have told me that we are not financially responsible for the rooms. The only thing is, if we don't fill all 10 rooms blocked, the rate goes back to whatever they are going for that day

I think it depends on how popular the hotel/area is. My hotel block is in Soho and the rates are more than it would be if my guests booked today.

I booked at the Hampton Inn Islandia and they gave me a better rate than what is currently available. Maybe question the hotels about their rates? The block usually offers the room at a better rate, but not always. For my MOH's wedding, it was cheaper for me to book using my AAA discount.

I used Laura at Kleinfeld Hotel Blocks and they did everything for me. I never had to contact a single hotel and she got me the best possible price for my hotel. I am so happy to be working with them. Easily one of my favorite vendors.

I was thinking the same thing. I got a quote from Courtyard Marriot, and when I went to see the prices if done by ourselves, the rooms would actually be cheaper if done with a AAA discount. I was actually going to email the Marriott tomorrow, is this the norm?

Hotel prices for blocks are definitely negotiable, it can't hurt to ask!

I blocked rooms at the Huntington Hilton, the rate I got was lower than what was on their website.

I just learned of Kleinfeld Hotel Blocks from this post, I received an email from them today and I am loving it. I have had such a hard time getting hotels to call me back. Will let you know how it goes.

I'm using the Hilton Garden Inn Westbury and I was able to negotiate prices. They only offer free shuttle buses for Jericho terrace brides and after my inner bridezilla came out the manager provided free shuttle buses for my guest as well.

I used Klienfeld as well, mostly because I didn't see the need to put in the time and research myself as I highly doubt any of our guests will even be using it. If I had more people who were definitely needing hotel rooms I would have looked into it myself.Welcome New Vendors
