Re: Blocking Hotel Rooms? Do you get charged??

No, they just set aside a certain rate ... once the day passes (say a month before your wedding), they open it up to other guests.

Re: Blocking Hotel Rooms? Do you get charged??

I just did this over the weekend. Some hotels DO hold you responsible for rooms that arent blocked. Try to find a hotel that will block rooms for you with no penalties if the rooms arent blocked. And most importantly, under no circumstances should you leave a credit card deposit!!!

Re: Blocking Hotel Rooms? Do you get charged??

No there's no charge.

The hotel will hold usual about 10 rooms at a time at a discounted price in order for your guests to book. Once 10 people book they hold another 10, etc until the month before your wedding. Usually after that they won't guarantee to hold any rooms. So if they book up too bad. It's incentive for your guests to book early...don't forget they can always cancel within 24 hours.

I hope that helps.

Re: Blocking Hotel Rooms? Do you get charged??

I would definitely block at 2 hotels so your guests can feel they have an option. Your best bet is to pick an affordable budget hotel and a quality class hotel

Re: Blocking Hotel Rooms? Do you get charged??

No charge by our hotel and since we blocked rooms we got a suite at about $30 more then the regular rooms ( and about $150 off regular suite price) and we get that price even if less then 10 rooms are actually booked.

Re: Blocking Hotel Rooms? Do you get charged??

i reserved 60 rooms at one hotel - because of the large amount i had to guarantee 50% but we know that we will make that number without a problem - i only did one hotel because i am giving my guests transportation from that hotel

but one hotel want me to guarantee 90% and rrequired 2 nights- that i was not certain of

make sure to ask is there a 2 night guarantee because that is annoying for guests who are only planning on staying one night
