I am sending out save the date magnets and we only have about 5 out of town guests that may need a hotel. Do I put a note in the card to those people stating that if they need to secure a hotel to contact us or do I simply block hotel rooms for these 5 people and let them know which hotel??? I do not want to be rude !!

Re: blocking hotels assistance !!!
We blocked rooms in 2 hotels of somewhat difference prices, though they were not that different, and sent the little cards with the invites that the hotel gave us. (we didn't do STDs)

I would send a note - I am in the middle of sending out the STD's and am putting a note in them...I wouldn't block someone's room for them...

Re: blocking hotels assistance !!!
I blocked out rooms at the closest hotel because we are also having a brunch the morning after the wedding there. The hotel gave us direction cards and info for our guests. I am sending them out in January with our STD's. I blocked out the rooms because we get a much better rate that way.

Re: blocking hotels assistance !!!
If you block the rooms, you do stand a chance of a better rate. I would call the local hotels, pick one and block the minimum amount of rooms at the best rate, and then include the note in the STD. That way you have a suggestion for a hotel and a decent rate. If they don't take the rooms you're still not reliable for the money, they just get released again a month before. so why not?
But don't mention to the hotel that you think 5 people will need the rooms. Just ask what the minimum is.

Re: blocking hotels assistance !!!
hi i sent out information about the hotels in the area with our engagement announcements - i gave all the info of 6 hotels in the area what they charge and their web info ( we are ahving about 80 out of town guests) then i told everyone to let me know once they book something or if they are interested in the larger of the hotels so maybe we could book together and save some money - so far only folks who have booked b&b's have answered back so i am still waiting on the big hotels - oh and i called all the b&b's and told them i needed about 50 rooms for my wedding - then told guests to mention they were part of my wedding guest list - one b&b gave them 20% off cause my guests booked out the whole place .... just some thoughts

I sent the hotel info with the STD I made. This way people can block the rooms, I didn't want to do it for them.

If you block rooms then you get a better rate and it doesnt cost you anything. They have up to a certain date to call and book the room, and if they dont the hotel just releases the room. They dont have to stay there if they dont want to either, they can stay someplece else. I'm putting the cards from the hotel in the wedding invataions. They dont go in the save the dates.

I am putting the hotel info in the std's because I have people coming from Scotland and England and other US states that need to know far in advance.
