Re: blocking rooms?
We tried contacting hilton garden inn in westbury, we even had a name to use as a referral and they never returned our calls. I thought it was soooooo rude. FYI.
Don't know anything about Garden City Hotel

Re: blocking rooms?
we used the Wingate in Garden city for our guests...they were great. they included shuttle back & forth to the reception along with breakfast in the morning - and the price was great! good luck!

we had a hard time contacting the woman at hilton garden inn in westbury too. once we finally did and we visited the hotel, we were less than impressed. the location is great, but the hotel itself just didn't impress. i believe they did have a breakfast buffet for a small charge...i don't remember about the shuttle. i've heard great things about the wingate (unfortunately they were full the weekend of our wedding) and we blocked at Four Points Sheraton, which is gorgeous!

Re: blocking rooms?
We called and called and called the Hilton Garden Inn, we had to go there b/c no one would call us back
So we blocked our rooms at the Wingate in Garden City, which is just around the block-they were very easy to work with.
We also booked rooms at the GC Hotel, which apparently no one wanted b/c it was $250 a night and this was May
Good Luck

Re: blocking rooms?
I would stick with the Wingate in Garden City. I stayed there last year when we came for a wedding and it was beautiful. They do have a shuttle for your reception so it was helpful. The price was about 109 and that was last May.

I had a hard time with the Wingate. THey didn't return my calls. I booked with the Hilton Garden Inn and I have not had any problems. Nadine has always called me back or emailed me within a few days.
I like that the Hilton has the online budegeter, so you can see how many rooms you have left in your block. I am not sure if the other hotels use it.

Re: blocking rooms?
I found this thread for the girls that are still looking for hotels. Try it and let them do your work.
We just blocked our rooms today at La Quinta (formerly the Wingate Inn). Wingate was a franchise that was owned by a family in Garden City for 7 years. They sold it to La Quinta and it switched over about a month ago. The rate went up from Wingate but anyone that had Wingate pricing still gets what's in their contracts so don't worry. Anyone going forward has the higher price. It's not much higher, but it's a chain so that's what they do.
