Blocking rooms for OOT guests

Just wondering when all of you are going to start blocking rooms off?? What hotels are you all looking at???

TIA

I will probably start getting quotes in May or June. I am going to look at Holiday Inn @ Westbury, the Marriott in Uniondale and Wingate (sp?) hotel.

Jill and others, I would love it if you could post some prices when you do your research. I wasn't planning on tackling that until the summer, though.

I really hadn't thought about when to do it. I guess I will start in the summer, since my wedding is in January. When I get info, I will definitely post.

We already blocked rooms at the Fox Hollow Inn and soon we are going to block some at the nearby Best Western (less expensive option)!

Good luck!

Is the Best Western reasonable? That's where I planned on blocking - just thought I'd wait a bit...

I have been playing phone tag with the sales manager so I don't know the prices yet. The Fox Hollow Inn is an all suite hotel and the reduced prices for our guests is $209 a room. I am confident the Best Western will be cheaper than that.

I willpost back when I finally set it up!

Good luck!

$209 is theprice I was given for saturday night in january...it is very possible that the prices did go up.

The policy at the inn is that half of the rooms you reserve must be booked or you have to pay for the rooms that weren't. So if you block 20 rooms, 10 must be booked. If only 8 are booked the credit card you leave will be charged for the other 2 rooms.

We booked 14 rooms because we thought it would be a safe amount so we wouldnt be charged for anything. Our contract at FH threw in the bridal suite for the night and that counts as one of the rooms. You can always add rooms to the block whenever you want if they get booked up.

The kicker that I didn't know is that they ahve to be booked by one month before the affair. So basically rooms need to be booekd by 12/7/04 for us or we will have to pay the difference of whatever isnt booked AND the rooms will be released and the discounted rate is not gauranteed anymore! This changes when I am going to send my invites & my response date because I want people to have ample time to decide whether they want to stay over.

Does that help?

Let me know!

Wingate Inn

Before I booked Floral Terrace, I called the Wingate... I got the following info but obviously haven't done anything about it yet. However, with 60% OOT'ers...I need to do it well!

The rate is usually $179-189, but will be $149-159 (approx. since they didn't know the price yet).

You get a shuttle (14 passengaer van - round trip) for everyone if you book 10 rooms (or was it 15 - not exactly sure)... Or get $100 off your bridal suite. If you do like 30 rooms, you get both.

For another 60 - 70 dollars each way, you can get additional shuttles from a company they use. (If I have tons of OOT guests, they can't be waiitng for this van to come back and forth).

For the bar, you can keep it open cash bar for 3 hours (12 - 3) for $100.

It's a pretty good rate, wish I could get it a little lower tho. But the thing is, is that there are suites, etc. that multiple people can sleep in if cost is a problem....

(Ironic, their ad is next to me on the 'featured vendors' as I write this!)

I am so glad you wrote this...That is exactly where I am looking to book rooms...We don't need the bar considering we won't get back to the hotel til 2AM anyway!!!

All the rooms are suites. i believe?? Did they tell you when you should book the rooms?? I want to go see the rooms, they look beautiful on the website!

They told me that they don't open up the book till one year away....so I guess we should book in March.

I'm hoping to get it a little lower... They are suites so you could have four people in there. But I wish it was more like 109. Maybe if I am realllll nice?

I thinking we are going to use the Marriott in Ronkonkoma since it is mostly his family. This way they are close to other relatives and can visit while they are here.
