In the wake of the hurricane disaster in the gulf of mexico, I was wondering if anyone knew of any blood drives going on ?? I want to help, but $$$ is soo tight. I may donate $20 to red cross. Any help is grateful!!!

I heard on News12 that $$ is really what they need down there. They added that monetary donations also help to revitalize the economy. So $20 to the Red Cross seems like the best thing, I'm sure they'd appreciate the help!!

I don't want to get flamed for this, BUT.... You can donate blood when there is no disaster. So many people turned up to give blood after 9/11 that they actually had to throw a lot of it away because they didn't have need for it all... when there is no sort of disaster, they are in desperate need of blood, there is always a shortage, and there are ALWAYS blood drives throughout the year. So please think about giving blood all the time. I will get off my soapbox now.

I try to give blood when I can but it seems my iron is always too low.

I give blood once a year around x-mas and I donate plates in Hauppauge Blood Center once a year. I was just curious if there was any drives ie fund raiser for it, thats all
