BM drama

BM drama

so everyone pretty much knows that i don't want young kids at my church wedding or reception..by young i mean younger than 4...my bm, after 'volunteering' her 1 year old son as my ring bearer (after i explained to her that it way too young), caught a fit...not only is that rude, since i didn't ask her in the first place, but she tells me time and time again, 'are u sure you don't want ryan as ring bearer?' 1 is way too young...and i don't want crying or screaming kids at the wedding...
so she gets the invite, which was addressed to just her and her bf, and includes her son on the response card! when i saw her i said she's gonna be busy all day since she's in the bridal party, and she says her bf will take care of him...how ballsy to just invite him..
i asked my mom to talk to her bf about this, since he probably has no clue he will have babysitting duties all night...
i don't get it, many of my friends say they wouldn't bring their kids b/c they want to have a good time...
should i let this go and have her bf take care of him, or should i tell her it's not fair for her to bring her son, since i said no kids for no one?

No kids is no kids!!!!!! Stand up for yourself. She has no right to do that.

I cannot stand it when people do that - reply with add on names that were not even addressed to on the invite. It is the rudest thing ever - this happened to a friend of mine. She had close to 20 extra guests b/c of rude people who did this and her mom was too embarassed to call them out on it.

Re: BM drama

That sounds pretty rude to me. I'd tell her that, with all due respect, his name wasn't on the invitation for a reason . . . No Kids Allowed!!

Definitely - tell her it's no kids ...
and if you allow her son, everyone else will be offended - family, friends who you told the same thing...

I would tell her no kids

She isn't exempt from the no kids rule. Be prepared for a fight but stand your ground. She has no right to put you in this position.

No kids means no kids. Tell her a..
that you mean it, and if she doesn;t like it,
to bad.
I will be having the same problem, and I'm ready.

Re: BM drama

Based on what you wrote, it seem obvious to me that this person wants to use your wedding to showcase how cute her child is. I am sure she would LOVE the opportunity for people to shower HER with attention by saying 'Oh your son is adorable BLAH BLAH BLAH'. Mind you, I am having a couple of young ones too BUT I chose to. AND their parents are wise enough to have provided means by which to have the children sent home after the cocktail hour because itis hardly appropriate for a young BABY (which is what a 1 year old is) to be up til 1 am. Some may differ in opinion but regardless, to have someone take it upon themselves to invite their own child is presumptuous and rude. I would most certainly TELL her to keep him home. If you lose her, you lose her. Your day. Your way.

I def think you should say something to her. Other people will be offended if she brings her son and they weren't allowed to bring their kids. Stand your ground.

IMO its not fair what she is doing... you should not let her get away with it or you may have a bunch of other guests upset that you let her bring her kid.

I wouldn't let her get away w/ it. What would family w/ kids say? I'd put my foot down

Honestly, I would avoid anyone getting mad at you for letting this girls kid in and not theirs by telling her to find a babysitter for that night because what you do for one you have to do for all!

Ditto!!! You may also have to be prepared to tell her that her son will not be allowed into your wedding if he comes even if that means her bf having to leave. She has no right!!!! THIS IS YOUR WEDDING!!!!!!

Re: BM drama

You should NOT let it go. You should call her and tell her that her son was not invited to the wedding and she cannot bring him Explain that no guest is permitted to bring a child, and you will not be put in the position of having to tell all your other guests that she has no manners and brought the child despite being told on numerous occasions he wasn't invited.

Re: BM drama

I still don't get why anyone would want to bring their 1 year old to a wedding reception. Obviously, the child is going to be bored or tired and it's a lot of work to entertain a one year old!

This conversation has come up a lot recently with different people. Luckily, my 2 friends in the bridal party with kids are like I'm leaving them home, it's my night out! I'm worried about one of my friends though, she brought her one year old a few years ago to a wedding. I think I'm safe though since her mom is travellnig with her this go round.

Definitely don't let it go. Just put a spin on it to make it seem that you're worried about her having fun and worrying about her son!
