I am going shopping next month with my girls, and I want them to wear short chiffon dresses in a dark purple. But, I have 8 girls who are various shapes and sizes, and I planned on just picking one designer, a length (short), and a fabric (chiffon), and let the girls pick whatever dress they want. That way, since they are the same designer and fabric, they will all come in the same color. Has anyone done this? and does anyone know a designer that makes alot of short chiffon dresses?

I did this with my girls except I chose satin for the fabric. I just went to David's bridal because 3 of my 5 girls live out of state so I thought it would be the easiest place to go. I originally wanted chiffon but they only have like 3 or 4 styles in the store, they have more online, but I wanted them to be able to try the dress on before buying.
I can't help you with a designer that has a lot of short chiffon options but I can say that I think my girls appreciated having the option of choosing something that they like and feel comfortable in!

I was in a bridal party where we all wore J Crew Chiffon dresses. We were able to pick out diff styles.
for my own bridal party - I am looking at Bill Levkoff chiffon dresses, but I know a ton of designers have various options.

I did the same thing. I actually got my girls dzage. It's a company/designer under bill levoff in plum. I love them. Browse dzage.com. ! I got the dresses at bridal suite in bayshore hth

I did this with mine in a plum color… Jim Hjelm has a beautiful luminescent chiffon that is offered in a TON of styles, you can also pick from the Alvina Valenta collection in the same material and color because they are both JLM Couture designers. Check out the website www.jlmcouture.com

Bill Levkoff also has very flattering shapes for different body types!

I loved the J. Crew dresses, but they only offer up to size 16, and one of the girls is larger =/

The Social line from Dessy has a lot of options in chiffon. I ended up with a charmuse, but they had many in chiffon. There was one in particular that would have been lovely on heavier girls

I was going to suggest this as well. My girls got Jim hjelm occasions chiffon dresses. They were long dresses though. And if you go to trunk show its 10% off.

I'd also recommend bill levkoff. I loved all of their dresses but they don't have a nice light blue color. They have great dark colors though. Jim Hjelm is also good, as well as dessy. I think Watters and Watters also. I had some of my girls try on chiffon dresses at David's bridal but they did not like them and felt they were wearing a towel lol, but the designers I mentioned had much better designs.
