I am having kind of a big bridal party (about 10 girls give or take) and I want to have a dress order cut off. Meaning, you need to have ordered your dress by a certain date, otherwise you won't be in the wedding.
My wedding is on 4/19/13. So my question is: When do you think a reasonable cut off date is? Also, how can I word this to my girls without sounding like a total b****? haha
Just wondering you guy's opinions

Re: BM Dress Question
Hopefully, you trust all of your bridesmaids to do this for you in the time frame you need them to. I've heard that bridesmaids dresses can take up for 12 weeks to come in, if you give them a few weeks for alterations... You could ask them to order by sometime in September?
However, I wouldn't give them an 'or else,' clause quite yet. Maybe make your deadline a little earlier than you really want, and if your girls don't make it... Then you can tell them they have two weeks to order it or they're out. I just feel like saying it right off the bat makes it sound like you don't trust them to do their job to begin with. It might upset them.

Re: BM Dress Question
i had them order last week, they come in 3 months so i made them order early but thats just me i like knowing everything has been ordered, set & planned. even the store was saying we had time but we chose the dress and i didnt want to go back months from now and worry if there was a problem. so i guess it depends on when you want them.

ITA! I would just tell them that the bridal store cannot put the order in until everyone places the order so 'please get it done early.' I would def keep in contact with the place and hunt down the girls who don't order in time LOL

Re: BM Dress Question
12 weeks to order and then add up to 4 to 6 weeks for alterations...I just had this conversation with several people. All you have to say is that the dresses aren't guaranteed if not ordered by whatever date...and to be honest I would change the date to two weeks before whatever you are thinking but maybe thats because I am neurotic..Good Luck

BM Dress Question
Thanks girls!! I appreciate the feedback! I'll definately consider all of these points when determining an 'order by' date. :D

BM Dress Question
I think you will be fine if they order by September. My girls are ordering them by the end of this month and even then she said they would be in my Sept/Oct, and my wedding is just one week before yours. I like having everything done in advance so I know how you feel!

BM Dress Question
it also depends where you are ordering from. My friend had us order our BM dresses from Davids Bridal back in Feb bc they told her it would take 4 months to come in. Well they came in two weeks! While my friend was relieved we all have our dresses, now it's sitting in my closet for 7 months! Because of this, I am not in too much of a rush to go looking!!
