Our wedding is black tie optional (groomsmen are wearing tuxes). I really want bridesmaids to wear cocktail length dresses. Are cocktail length dresses not 'dressy' enough for black tie optional? This is the style I'm considering:
Re: BM Dress Question - Black Tie Optional Wedding
I personally think it's fine.
The black and white color scheme makes it look more formal. I think you would be safe with anything jewel toned as well.
I'm not an equiette expert though. Lol. I think you're fine.

That is THE exact dress that we wore for my sisters black tie optional wedding! with the white sash and all. It was still very formal even though they were cocktail length. I think you will be just fine!
ETA there are some pics in my album if you want to see the dress on real people

Re: BM Dress Question - Black Tie Optional Wedding
To me a Black Tie Optional means optional for the guys in tuxes and optional for the women in long dresses. So I kind of feel that if your own bridal party isn't in long dresses you shouldn't write black tie optional....I would expect the bm's in long dresses - JMO.

Re: BM Dress Question - Black Tie Optional Wedding
I think the short dresses are great for June. I think if you are doing black in June its better to do a short vs long dress...Plus cocktail length is becoming more formal and is more modern...
