BM dress question - pregnancy

one of my BMs is pregnant, due in march. this gives her 6 months after to lose whatever weight she wants to.

How do we go about ordering dresses? I do NOT want to wait until a few months before. but... how can they 'guess' you know? We should have gone a month or too ago... OOPS!

BM dress question - pregnancy

If you are going to a reputable store the associates should be able to make suggestions for you. No reason to wait till a few months before. When we ordered my dresses I had one bridesmaid who had just found out she was pregnant a few weeks before and her due date is less than a month before the wedding. They really worked with her and spent time helping her decide on what size should hopefully work. I had another bridesmaid that had just given birth and they worked with her to order a size she felt comfortable with as well.

A bridal party I was in 2 years ago the MOH found out she was unexpectedly pregnant about 4 months before the wedding (long after dresses were ordered). The place worked with her to alter the dress putting a corset back for more room and some extra material on the sides. Bottom line I would say when in doubt size up since its easier to take in material, and also be upfront with the consultants. They have seen it all and will likely have great suggestions for you and will be willing to do whatever they can to help. Good luck!

BM dress question - pregnancy

I had a BM who was about 4 months pregnant when we ordered dresses and was giving birth 7 weeks before my wedding. The shop helped her figure out what size to order and everything worked out with no problems

BM dress question - pregnancy

My sister who is one of my BMs is pregnant; she was 6 months when we went to order the dresses. We ordered the dress a size bigger from what she used to wear before she got pregnant. She plans on losing weight. She will have about 5-6 months to lose the weight. The dress will then be altered.

Believe it or not, (because I know they have such a terrible reputation on here), we got the dresses at the Wedding Center in Commack. The place is a dump, but they were very friendly and helpful in so many ways (they found out for me I could get the dress in a different fabric & color than what was shown in the vendo swatches, I had an out of state BM to deal with, etc.) (and even though everyone I dealt with was friendly, there was one woman there who always looked like she was pi$$ed at the world)

Re: BM dress question - pregnancy

Tell her to get measured when everyone else goes, and she can alwasy have it taken in if she loses weight.

Re: BM dress question - pregnancy

I didn't deal with that, but when I was doing a fitting at an amazing seamstress in Sayville, there was a pregnant bridesmaid doing a fitting... the other bridesmaids had ordered a size bigger and the seamstress was using their extra material to fit the pregnant girl into a dress. That would totally depend on your dresses though! Some can't be expanded like that.
