bm dress trouble! - help

OK... i have 6 girls in my bridal party then my daughter the flower girl..... i have chosen at least 6 dresses which everyone had different problems with. Everyone has never liked the same dress - i was trying to take the girls into consideration and try to get a dress everyone would like and would re wear - i finally decided to go and just pick 'the dress' which i did my sister doesnt like it at all - everyone else has told me that they will wear lime green if i asked them too ( only 1 girl asked for straps not strapless because shes older and more comfortable in straps - not a bad request no problem) so i got a strapless dress that has detachable straps figuring id please everyone!!!!!!! now i dont know what to do...... If you girls have your BM dresses already picked could you post pictures....

I'm avoiding this problem by letting all my BM's choose their own dresses. Here are some possible dresses they will be wearing:

I foresee something similar happening with me. My two MOH's (my sisters) are older, 39 and 41. Neither of them feel comfortable in a strapless gown. My FSIL wants me to let them wear tea-length, which I'm completely opposed to (they're cute, but I don't want my BM's in tea-length).

My plan when starting BM dress shopping is to take my two sisters and FSIL only. I have a total of 8 girls, but I can't ask all of their opinions because then they'll never agree. So if my two sisters and FSIL can agree on something, that's what we're going with. I may still go strapless and let my two sisters get straps put on if they want. But FSIL already knows I'm not budging on the length of the gown.

Remember, as much as you want to make everyone happy and comfortable, it's YOUR day, and you only have to make YOU happy. Part of accepting to be a BM means wearing the dress that the bride picks out. You need to pick one that YOU like and put your foot down about it.

I am going to pick out like 3-4 styles and then let the girls pick which ones they like from there. I feel like that is nice of me because I am giving them a choice...and I dont care if they all match or not

You could pick the color & fabric, and then select a few different styles so that the girls can choose from those.

initially i wanted all the girls (MOH and 3 BMs) in the same dress. but after we went to try on some dresses. i realized that it was going to be so difficult for them to look good in the same dress as their body types are so different. And even harder for all of them to like the same dress. so in the end, i've decided to just pick a designer and color/fabric and they will choose their own style. Maybe that's an option for you?

Oh, I can feel your pain on this issue.

I had a troublesome BM initially who was my MOH. I changed my MOH to my daughter, who is going to be 8. She threw an outright fit!

She also threw a fit because I had my BM meet with me and they picked out dresses that they all liked. It looked great on all of them, my 8 year old included!

However, the ONE BM - threw a royal fit about the dress - and removed herself from my wedding.

Some people are too wrapped up in themselves I think, to realize that they are standing up there next to you, on YOUR day.. and it is about what YOU want :)

Get whatever you want, this is your wedding. Yes, its nice to try to accomodate everyone but its also near impossible. It seems like you have really gone out of your way to please everyone. So I would just stick with the dress you found.

You are being more than accomodating. It is your wedding! You get to choose!

I am planning on deciding the designer, the color, fabric, and then I will give them three dresses to try on. I will decide based upon how everyone looks in them and their opinions which one will be the one.

Basically majority rules and I get veto power. Only you know how you want everything to look like. You should have final say and do what makes you happy.

OMG!! I would have such a fit if one of my bm's did that!!! I'm going to let them pick out styles they like...then I'll narrow it down to 3 or 4 and pick the most popular one. I want my MOH to wear a different dress, so she gets to pick first and the one she picks is out of the running. I'm hoping they all pick the same one, but if they don't...it's my decision!!!

Re: bm dress trouble! - help

i am really worried about bm dress shopping for these reasons...i have 9 girls...all different shapes and sizes. I think most of them will be pretty much fine with whatever I pick but I forsee trouble with FSIL. However...i want everyone to wear the same thing so it may cause some drama.

I had considered picking out the designer, color, etc and then letting each girl pick their own style...but it would look weird if like 5 picked one dress, 3 picked another...etc. It would either have to be all the same or like 3, 3, and 3....its gonna be a headache!

It would be an ooption accept i dont like that look to me it looks unfinished - not to say anything bad to the brides who are doing this - everyone likes different things - its just not an option for me. Thanks though!
