Do you think that $220 is too much to ask your bridesmaids to spend on a dress??????

Re: bm dresses
Im keeping mine under $200
But it is your wedding so you have the choice of what dress you want them to wear.
My cousin just bought a dress for her friends wedding and it was $285...

Re: bm dresses
thats really up to you and has a lot to do with the bridal party-
like, i have a GIANT bridal party, but mostly i thought of my sisters...i am the last of the 4 of us to be getting married, so i would feel bad asking them to spend that much since i know that we have all been in eachothers weddings or been having our own wedding for most of the last 2 1/2 years!!! But- that is my circumstance, you know?
I mean, if it is something TOTALLY bridesmaid-y, then I would say that yeah- thats a lot to ask. But, if it is the type of dress that they would totally wear again, then maybe it would be something to think about.
And, generally you can find a dress that is comprable to the one the you love for less money from another designer. And you might see that and realize that it didn't need to be that exact dress, but that was the look you were going for.

Re: bm dresses
I think anything under $300 is reasonable.
Anything over that I would be a little nervous/feel bad to ask my girls to shell out that much.
Then again...I've heard of brides telling their BMs that they can get a payment plan on the dress if they can't afford it. HOW RUDE!?
It's your day so you have to pick something that you ultimately love. Obviously all of us want our BMs to be comfortable and happy. Most likely we all have been/will be BM in our lives so we wouldn't be shocked at a $220 price tag from knowing what they on average go for and I'm sure your BM will feel the same way.

Re: bm dresses
My BM dresses are $220 but I'm having them order the day of the designers trunk show so they save 10% so it will be $200 for them. They all didn't flinch at all at the price and said that's what they expected to pay so I think that's fine : ) I paid almost $400 for a bm dress 6 years ago so I think $200 is average.

I am trying to keep our dresses under 200. Consider all the other expenses like hair, makeup, shoes, bags, gift, etc.

I don't think its too much. It all comes back around in the merry circle of weddings.

Re: bm dresses

Re: bm dresses
I think under 300 with alterations is reasonable for a Long Island wedding. The dress is beautiful too, maybe they can cut it down and wear it as a cocktail dress after the wedding?

Re: bm dresses
I think that's about the norm unless you try David's Bridal they have alot of beautiful choices. Our's are 200 but $180 with the discount because I bought mine at the same place they all get a discount

Re: bm dresses
personally, i think asking 200 is a lot because they will have alterations to do as well. everyone is in a different financial situation and the economy is hard right now.
