So I have 7 Bridesmaids..and it was hard enough getting them all together on one day to go to RK Bridal to look at dresses...After some effort I actually got 6 out of the 7 to be there on Saturday..I had a list of 6 dresses we liked...we surprisingly ALL deceided on one right away..which was amazing..everything was going great UNTIL they let us know they don't price match unless you aren't doing alterations...meanwhile 2 of their employees told us that they pricematched regardless...long story short..after a lot of confusion and arguing we thought it would still be best to get the dresses there and now I'm having second thoughts because when we were there I choose the colors..and I noticed that on the dress it said 'Jolie Satin' and on the swatches that she was showing me it just said 'Satin' Now, since I've been memorizing the Bari Jay website (along with some other designers) I thought for sure that I was right and she was wrong but she assured me that 'Silk is silk, doesn't matter if its Jolie or not'...
Well..I get a call today saying that I need to come back in because I choose a 'silk color and not a Jolie silk' color...when I got the voicemail I just about screamed because this is what I was telling THEM on Sat!!!!!!!!!! And, if my last Bridesmaid didn't go in today to get measured, would they have even noticed??
They said there's basically nothing they can do for me, I have to come in.
Now another reason I'm mad is because they orignally told me that they HAD to be ordered by this Monday or it wouldn't come in time, now they are saying as long as I make it there by Sat it should come in time for the wedding. I don't know if I can trust these people now..I've had a ton of probs wit them already!!!
But I'm not sure if I can go elsewhere because #1 - all 7 of my girls already left a deposit #2 - there's only like 3 other stores that sell Bari Jay in NY #3 - how would I get all 7 girls together again to go again because most stores want to take their own measurements #4 - I am extremely pressed for time!!!
What do you girls think I should do?? Does anyone else have a Bari Jay dress and where did you get it? Any other probs with RK BRidal??
I am going to head over there after work to pick out a color I'm just hoping I'm not making the wrong decision with staying with them!!!

Oh wow. On the other hand i got my wedding dress from them and they told me it would take 7months and it came in 3 months. Another girl i know that got her bm dress from them they told her 5months and it came in 1 and 1/2 months. There dresses come fast so i wouldnt worry about that. But what i do know is that these places think they know everything about everything, i wouldve kept arguing that jolie satin issue.

Thats good to hear!! I've heard a ton of good things about them actually. And it was VERY busy is in there on Sat..so I can see how it happens. But everyone I tell this too is saying I'm being too nice lolz..which I know I can be sometimes but I feel like I am moments away from turning into a Bridezilla!! hehe..I am just so scared of something going wrong now!

would you have to bring in all of your bridesmaids if its only the color that wrong. If your bms left deposits I'm guessing they were measured and they would not have to be measured again.
I would just ask if you can call in the color.
We had one problem with RK, my sister ordered and altered her dress there and she picked it up without me and I noticed that the hem was too long on her so I told her we should get it shortened but RK made her pay for the alterations again because she did not bring in the alteration receipt. I didnt understand this because I would have thought she would be in their computer and she got the alterations there! that was my one complaint about them.

question, do you know what jolie satin color you would want? At our store when girls want to change a color (i know this isnt your fault!) we just ask them to fax us authorization to change the color ont he contracts...did you ask if you could do that??? this way you dont have to go in? If not, all the girls sholdnt have to go it..thats silly!! All they will do is adjust the color ont he contract!!
edit to add: also, most stores even though they prefer taking the measurements will allow girls to call them in if they are professionally measured (like at a tailor or bridal salon.) so you still have options hun!!!

I'm pretty sure they price match regardless. I considered doing it and they never said anything to me about it. If they still insist you do, one way you could get over that hump is have them deliver all the dresses to one location. This way they obviously have to leave the store and then you can get them altered wherever you want. You'll pay a little bit in shipping, but think of what you would save in parking and tolls!

I got my Bari Jay dresses from them and didn't have any problems. We did the no frills and they do not do alterations if you use their program. It says it on their website and they shouldn't have told you otherwise in the store...thats false info. I ordered my dress in satin and I think the colors for Jolie satin and just satin are similar if not the exact same. I'm pretty sure other places carry Bari Jay...we found dresses at 'Here Comes the Bridesmaids' as well which has a new location near penn station area. We ordered from RK to get the better price.

i found my dresses at rk, but wound up ordering them from here comes the bridesmaid because i couldn't get comfortable with the swatch issue, so ai totally understand what you are saying.
we wound up paying a little more at HCTBM than the no frills program, but a small amount and it was worth it to me (and my bm's) to have the peace of mind that we were getting the right color. plus, i had 8 bm's and a fg and they did discount the dresses for me.
i would try to get the deposit back from RK since they told you the wrong thing about the swatch. next, HCTBM definitely takes measurements from outside - NONE of my bm's or fg got measured there.

ITA ... we ordered the same way and my sis wanted to price match but she couldnt cause of the no frills ... she ended up paying regular price and then getting the price match which was about the same as the no frills (she is plus size so it would have been more).. it does clearly say that on the website and in the flyer they hand out to you.. although some of the sales woman sit there and explain the whole thing to you but others just hand you the flier and save go look at the dresses

They wont take it over the phone or without written consent because if the color comes in without the bride seeing the swatch or veryifying her decision by written agreement the bride can complain if she doesnt like the new color. It makes complete sense..they ahve to cover themselves ya know? Call and see if you can fax it over orcancel the order and go elsewehere...i totally understand your discomfort!

Thanks girls!!! I Read all your posts quickly while I was still at work but I couldnt respond while I was there.
They told me I could fax in the change of color, but since I never saw the 'Jolie' colors I was scared to do that because on the website the colors look a lot different and I know I wouldn't have been able to sleep without seeing the swatches.
Thank God FH got out of work early today and was able to drive me there after I got out of work, we got there about 10 min before they closed. The colors are pretty much EXACTLY the same, if they aren't the same, then its def. not noticible!! I wish they would have told me that over the phone lolzz...but its over now and the dresses are FINALLY ordered!! She put the order through right in front of me and was REALLY REALLY sweet. Now maybe I can sleep easy!
