Ok, this is my situation. I have 5 bridesmaids, ages 55-29 in my party, all different sizes (some are plus sizes), all different financial situations and all over the country. My wedding is at 11 in the morning on a Sunday. Originally, I was thinking of doing black and letting them all get their own dresses, but now I'm not sure if black is approriate for 11 in the morning ona Sunday (plus my FMIL made me feel bad about it). I need suggestions - should I choose a diffferent color, and what is a good color to choose for girls in my situation? Is there a good place that has all kinds of dresses that I could have them order via the phone? Thanks for any help I can get!!

Re: BM dresses - HELP!!!
You can have black. But if you feel you can't use it. There are SO many other colors. What you can do is ask people what other colors they like. I know some plus size woman live in black. (I'm not one of those woman) So maybe they aren't either. And spring colors are great!! You might have to go back & forth a bit. Which is tedious but, as long as the girls are happy with what they are wearing. It will show in there faces.

Jess ... there are plenty of manufacturers that carry inexpensive dresses. My girls spent about $175 each incl. alterations. But you can even do better than that!! If you're concerned about color ... I would pick one (letting your BP pick is tricky ... you'll never get consensus!) you'd like, pick a manufacturer that you like & let them pick the dress in that line in the chosen color. This way, they buy what they like & can afford & EVERONE is happy. That's what I did. Everyone looked beautiful.
Good luck!

Re: BM dresses - HELP!!!
I had the same EXACT situation as you, so I used Impression Bridal interchangeables collection, which may be right up your alley.
With this, you can choose different skirts and top, and they have an extensive choice.
I chose the skirt, color and material. I wanted a simple A-line skirt that would look good on all shapes and sizes. Then I let each BP member choose the top that would compliment them the best from the collection. They each went into a bridal store in their town to try it on.
Once everyone chose their tops, I priced them through Netbride.com, and they were extremely reasonable. The prices, depending on tops, ranged from $113-$133 for the total outfit. Each girl sent me a check and I ordered them throught NetBride. It worked out great, and each girl is getting an outfit that compliments her style and her shape. They are all very pleased.
let me know if you need any more info.

I don't think you will have a problem getting everyone dresses from all over, there are different websites you can try, I know alot of people on these boards have tried netbride.com and any dress shop will measure each girl. As for the black dresses for an early Wedding that is personal preference. Best Wishes !

I did them same thing Lizlen did - picked out the color and the skirt - and let the girls pick whatever top they were most comfortable in. If I remember correctly, the price was about $160-$170. Everybody is happy and nobody feels self-conscious.

Check out nydressco.com. I orderd my dresses through them and they were great. My girls paid $109 (with a wrap and no tax). They carry a lot of styles that come in regular and plus sizes and you can go on and register your BP and all they have to do is go to the web site, put in the credit card info and order their dress. When everyone has ordered, they ship the dresses (to ensure dye-lot). Just another option...
