Bm dresses TOO big?

So I believe everyone in my BP has ordered their bridesmaid dresses!!! I'm soooo excited!!!!!!

...but some of them were upset because they had to order their dresses in a MUCH larger size. I mean MUCH... someone who is a 12 had to order an 18...

is this normal? Some of the girls think that they have ordered the wrong size. I know that it's better to order bigger so that it could be taken in, but it just seems like that is a little drastic. I'm a size 4 but I had to order a size 6 wedding gown, which isn't as much of a difference. I'm getting concerned that the dresses will be ordered too big and look weird even after fittings...

I just order a BM dress for my friends wedding and i had to order like 2-3 sizes bigger than i usually wear - this was because my body fit in the snaller sizes but my chest didnt so they ordered me the big one and will take everything else in. Plus alot if times the dresses in stores run smaller than the sizes we are used to

Totally normal. The designer dresses are not the same size as 'regular' clothes. For the last three weddings I was in I had a dress that was three sizes bigger then my 'normal' size....same thing happened with my wedding dress.

That is absolutely normal - every wedding I was in I had to order the dress in at least three sizes bigger

I almost died when the lady in David's Bridal told me I needed a size 12 dress just by looking at me because I was wearing size 8 pants that were falling off of me.....but I do remember from being in weddings that they always order big and the dresses are 2 sizes apart from normal. I tried on a variety of styles and sizes and it depends on the maker really. I fit everything from an 8 - 12. Talk about messing with a person's head!
