Bm dresses TOO big?

Bm dresses TOO big?

So I believe everyone in my BP has ordered their bridesmaid dresses!!! I'm soooo excited!!!!!!

...but some of them were upset because they had to order their dresses in a MUCH larger size. I mean MUCH... someone who is a 12 had to order an 18...

is this normal? Some of the girls think that they have ordered the wrong size. I know that it's better to order bigger so that it could be taken in, but it just seems like that is a little drastic. I'm a size 4 but I had to order a size 6 wedding gown, which isn't as much of a difference. I'm getting concerned that the dresses will be ordered too big and look weird even after fittings...

100% normal

My girls wanted to faint when they ordered their dress, heck same with me with my gown. I prepared them for it and told them it all depends on the designer and the size chart. It does not go by your street size.

That's not to crazy!

I wear a street size 2-4 and hard to order a UK bridal size 13 which is like a US bridal size 8-10 I think..

Tell them not to worry! It's just a number after all

When I was in a wedding last year, I had to buy a 12. I wear a 6. It was rather huge though. They have to take into account where the size is needed. I have a small chest, but big hips and I could've worn a smaller dress since it was A-line.

I had to wear a 14 in a wedding and I am normally an 8! My FSIL was freaking out about her size also (she is normally like a 2) and so was FMIL and I had to calm them down.
That's totally normal. Tell them they will all fit fine and not to worry about it.

it is totally normal, my BM dresses were all ordered larger than normal, it is to make sure the dress will fit properly

The sizes run big, and rather make it a little too big than too small and have to add extra fabric$$$.

Yep, absolutly normal. expect to go up AT LEAST one size, but if they have sample dresses from the same designer in the size you plan on ordering, def. do try them on to get a general idea of fit.

That is normal. They say the difference is usually 2 sizes higher than what you wear in jeans.

Re: Bm dresses TOO big?

In the bridal world the sizes are way smaller than normal...it can be depressing but its 100% normal

Re: Bm dresses TOO big?

I've heard that's normal, but in most places, you should insist on ordering 1 size larger, if you think it will fit. My couins got her bridesmaids dress for a family wedding at Davids Bridal and insisted they order her size. It fit perfectly! Again this depends on the style of the dress, but in most places, they will make you purchase a size that is way bigger than you really are.
