? are u guys letting your BM's pick their dress or is it YOUR choice only???? I think i will get myself in trouble because im asking them 'what do u think of this dress?' via email... My sister says i should pic a dress that 'I' like and just let them know it's what i want them to wear. Not to ask anyone because some will say they like it and somebody might say they dont....
What are u doing when it comes to your girls gowns? are u asking their opinion? Pretty much with everything in my life i have a back bone, but it seems like because it's my wedding i feel bad if someone is wearing a dress that they dont like...HELP!!!

Re: BM DRESSES....DILEMA
well i think it would be nice if you and your girls had some input on the type of dress they would want to wear but i guess ultimately it is up to you. What a lot of girls do is pick out one color in a specific designer, and then the girls will pick out different style of dress in that color.. i think it looks great!

Re: BM DRESSES....DILEMA
I am only picking color... I am letting my girls do the rest. I am so laid back about this part... maybe too much so.

Re: BM DRESSES....DILEMA
I am asking only for input from my two cousins...One is a bridesmaid and the other is my MOH... If you start to base your decision off of everyone else's you will never find a dress in time that everyone likes....Just stick with a basic flattering style that would look good on everyone that isnt horribly expensive and no one should have a problem with it!!

Re: BM DRESSES....DILEMA
The good thing is that I only have 4 BM's so there's not as many opinions. I kinda lucked out because I chose 4 dresses that I liked and they were all able to agree on one. When it comes time to get the dresses made, they may be altered a little bit to compliment each girl's body.

Re: BM DRESSES....DILEMA
so far i have only talked to my sister (MOH) and one cousin about this. i think i am just going to pick out 7 or 8 dresses and let the girls which they want to wear so they will all be in whatever they want. some may want straps, so may want strapless, something that looks good on one might not look good on the other. but i decided on the color and fabric.

Re: BM DRESSES....DILEMA
I am giving my sister-MOH-the main decision on the dress, so far all of the dresses she has picked out in magazines are all dresses that I would have picked out. Once she tries them on and makes a decision, I will ask the BM's their opinions-hopefully they like them

I'm going to let them have input...because I dont want them paying for something they hate. I wont be negotiable on color...but open to style

Re: BM DRESSES....DILEMA
Crashing sorry . I sent them a power point with about 5 different dresses then they all had to vote. Whichever dress won (which was the one I loved ) coincidentially was the one that was ordered.
When I asked them to choose their own we spent about 3 months on getting 1 or 2 replies so I figured I might as well send them some options.

Re: BM DRESSES....DILEMA
I've already picked out the color. I'll pick out a few dresses and ask my MOH to pick one.

I asked for their opionions but ultimately it will be my decision and that will be based on whatever looks the best on all of them.

Re: BM DRESSES....DILEMA
I'll be choosing the dress the girls wear with the help of my sister (MOH) I have worn dresses for other weddings and had no input (luckily I loved them all)

Re: BM DRESSES....DILEMA
I wanna go shopping with my bridemaids and have them try on dresses they like and that i like too. I will probably have the final say on the color and style but I want them to be comfortable.

Re: BM DRESSES....DILEMA
I decided color --- and they all knew my dresses would always be blue so it wasnt really in question.
as far as dresses go, we kind of stumbled upon a dress that they loved although it had spaghetti straps. I preferred strapless but 2 BMs said they feel more comfortable with straps so i went ahead with the strapped dresses. as time passed i really got upset and regretted my decision because i hated the straps and thought they looked juvenile, so when i went to one BM's fitting with her I asked the seamstress if it was possible to remove the straps. she said she could make them removable. In the end, everyone decided they liked the dress better strapless ( ) so they all wore the straps off the whole time, and I loooooooved our dresses. However, I told my sis (the main proponent for straps) that I'd prefer her to leave them off for formal pictures and the ceremony, but she's welcome to put them back on for the reception if she felt she needed them. She didnt need them.
In sum.... I think it's important for your girls to be comfortable in the dresses. However, superficial things like color, design etc should be your choice unless you don't feel strongly about it. Make sure you're OK with whatever you decide on because while I got lucky and we were able to change our dresses, you aren't always going to be able to

Re: BM DRESSES....DILEMA
I havent decided yet. I have girls of drastically different sizes. I know they'll feel comfortable in different things. At the same time, I like uniform- girls wearing the same dress. Who knows what I'll end up doing.

Re: BM DRESSES....DILEMA
It depends on the shapes and sizes of your girls. My bridemaids are all of average height and weight so any dress will really do. I am picking the dress and thats that. I know that everybody is into strapless these days...this includes myself. I have heard from girls with big boobs & girls without boobs that strapless is very uncomfortable. My girls are all average but that is something to think about.
