BM problem -I need help!

BM problem -I need help!

I'll keep this simple, if possible. I have 5 best girl friends so I choose to do my bridal party all family, to not insult my friends. I though that would keep things simple but nope.

My only sister is my MOH. Easy enough!

My FH has 2 sisters. One is 28, We hang out with her offten. His other sister is 39, has four young boys and lives in Rockland. We don't see her offten but her husband is the jewler who hooked-up FH with my E-ring. They are always generous with us.

FH asked his 28Y/O sister's boyfriend to be a groomsman. So I asked his 28 year old sister to be bridesmaid, as I belived this is the right thing to do.

FH's neices live with him and I spend nearly every day with them. They will be 16 &13 at my wedding. I asked them to be my bridesmaids as well. This gave me four bridesmaids, easy. I thought I was done.

This weekened we visited his older sister. She said to me 'I hope my sister and I will be bridesmaids!' I was thinking what? You want to be my bridesmaid? your older and I never even though to ask you. I even said 'You would want to be my bridesmaid? I didn't think you would' Of course now I have to ask her, it's the right thing to do. I feel weird about it though. Fh is not asking her husband, the jewler.

It presents a new issue also. My brother is married to his jr. highschool sweetheart. I have know her since I was like 7. FH and I are very close to them but they are 35 and have two tiny girls (my flower girls) and my sister-in-law expressed to me she felt she's too old to be a bridesmaid and she didn't expect me to ask her (she's actually 5 yrs younger then my FSIL who feels she needs to be a BM). I was not in her wedding party 10yrs ago.

If im going to have FH's older sister in my party then I certinly must ask my sister in law whom I actually am very close too (im not even close to his older sister). I just feel so uncomfortable with the whole thing. FH does not understand really. He's like 'just ask them all, no big deal'

Does this mean that my FH should put my brother in his birdal party since im focred to ask his sister now? I wouldn't expect him to do that even though it's the same situation. Also FH's older sister's husband is NOT a groomsman, does this mean he needs to be now? Ugh this is so horrbile.

i know it is confusing but if you really don't want the older sister in there then i would just explain to her that you hope she understands, but you have decided to keep the bridal party small... this way it doesnt get crazy and out of hand and you wont have to ask everyone in order to include everyone. maybe you can include her in something like, a reading at the ceremony?

If you do need to ask your sister in law because you end up asking both of FH's sisters then i wouuld say its only right to have your brother included in there as well...

in my family anyone who is married & has kids is not asked to be in a bridal party, especially if you are using there kids.

however since you are put in the situation where you are forced to ask her & your FH is forced to ask her husband. then unfortunettly yes he should be forced to ask your brother which means that you have to ask your SIL even though she has already expressed that she does not expect you to ask her.

the same thing happend to my cousin when she got married. she was forced to ask her FSIL who not only is older then her but was 5 months pregnant with twins & carrying big at the wedding. oh & we wear cotton candy pink dresses. my cousin was so upset when she saw her video & pictures & really noticed how bad she looked.

I actually love the idea of having her do a reading. Thats something I never though of and I think she might go for that!

you shouldnt be expected to ask anyone...this is your day to have the people closest to you by your side...Just bc someone is expecting to be in it doesnt mean they have to...
Regardless of family or not, people shouldnt assume that they are in the bridal party and ask about them being in it...

if you really want her in the party then add her, but if you dont feel comfortable or still not sure about it dont add her yet...wait on it...there is plenty of time to ask, but its not right to ask somone and then un-ask them...

this is ur wedding and too bad with what everyone else wants... my sister thought she was the MOH but suprise suprise shes NOT!! and she flipped and was pissed but she got over it.. i told her if she wasnt happy then dont be in my wedding at all....

as far as ur FSIL i dunno its kinda weird cuz she put u on the spot and even thou shes older i guess she wants 2 be in ur wedding especially sincer her sister is..add them all!! lol

just curious....but what does age have to do with being a bridesmaid? whether a person was 20 or 40 i don't see a difference. it's an honor just to be part of the wedding imo

I always feel like bridesmaids are younger girls. I donno, now my FMIL and FFIL told me 'DO NOT ask her, she's rediculous for even wanting that!' That made me feel better since she's their daughter.

They LOVED the idea of a reading. THANK YOU for that girls!!!!

I agree...I was in a bridemaid and I was 10 yrs older than the bride. I turned out to be a big help, she wanted to kill her sister , who was her MOH.
