bm ? (sorry its long!)

bm ? (sorry its long!)

okay so this might end up being a little long. Sorry!!!!!

so im an only child...and will not be asking fh's sister because she is a lot older and will just make things disasterous. im not asking my cousins because if i ask 1 i really should ask another 5 (so i dont want to cause drama in the family). i am def asking 1 close friend from home cuz we've been friends for forever...then i have my 4 college friends

1 - ive known right before college, we lived together and are close and she's engaged and into weddings
2 - we met at college, lived together, pledged together and WERE super close but since she's moved to nyc she's gone through like a total personality change and now she's all moapy cuz she's the only single one and we only hang out every once in a while (we used to be inseperable) and at college i was like omg she will be in my wedding and be my moh. also she might complain about spending $ cuz she's all about drinking now, but i think she thinks that i will ask her because we were so much closer than everyone else.
3 - we met at college and she was in my sorority, we hung out but now we're super close and pretty much inseperable so she will be my moh.
4 - is also an only child and we said we would be in each other's weddings, we lived together but we drifted apart our last yr but i know if i ask her she will really appreciate it since she misses all of our friendships.

so here's my problem...asking #1 is fine, asking #3 will be okay. asking #2 will cause drama for 1 and 3 because she will complain about $ to them and just say things. and FINALLY i would ask #4 because she will really appreciate the offer (im pretty sure she would accept) but if i ask 4 and not 3, 3 will flip and be mad at us all.

so ill either have 3 bms (but i really want 4), 4 or have 5 (and just make them deal with #2). I kind of feel bad though because i dont want my bms to have drama and issues but i want #2 to be included. and ive thought about giving her another role but i think she will just get offended.

any advice would be great! TIA

Hmmmmmmm.

I think its better to be all-inclusive. If it were me, I'd probably ask them all...

But then again, remember that its YOUR day. If it's going to be more stressful for you to have all of them in the wedding party, then don't do it! The last thing you want to have to worry about is your wedding party. That should be the fun/easy going part!!

thanks!!!! i was asking my friends about this but they arent too objective so i love getting advice from u girls!

maybe it IS better to have them all. maybe the single one wont be as cranky if everyone is inlcuded??? i dont plan on making them spend a fortune anyway (although i think it just happens neway) im okay with them finding inexpensive dresses if they really wanted to as long as i like the color/style. im not too picky.

i actually think fh wants me to have more (like 8) b/c he doesnt want to chose bw his friends either! but for me 8 is too many girls to deal with!!!

I hear ya. Sometimes I think it would be easier to not have ANY Bm's. Ya know?! I love my friends dearly, but I also feel so bad making anyone spend $$ on my wedding!

Some days I just want my mom be my MOH and call it a day!

The way I see it is that no matter what there is going to be a little bit of drama.. there always is, so IMO that's unavoidable no matter who you pick. I say include #4, perhaps this is what she needs to cheer her up a little bit. Also, look at it as a way to reconnect with all of your friends from college.

In the end, do want you want to do, not what you think will make others happy.

I agree with bonnie, I seriously considered only having a BM and a MOH but I really want my girls I grew up with to be there. I always thought my roommate from college was going to be in my bridal party too. We roomed together for 3 out of the 4 years there! We were so tight but after college we just lost touch and don't even speak so I wouldn't even consider her for my bridal party anymore! But anyway, back to where I agree with bonnie, I think you should just ask all of them to risk hurting anyones feelings.

i'd ask the people I care about. if they care about you they will all get along fine. hopefully they will respect your opinion and will be honored that you've chosen them to be a part of your special day.

Hey, lurking '06er here. This may not be what you want to here, since you're all excited about planning and such, but your wedding is almost two years away. If you spend some time on the '06 boards, you'd see that so many women asked their bridal party too early or too hastily and ended up dissapointed by one of more of their bridesmaids. That being said, my opinion is to wait a year. Make an effort to stay close with each of these girls and in a year you will have a better idea of who will a helpful and supportive member of your bridal party.
Good luck.

noppppe not estee lauder for me!!! but i do love the fact that you know someone with the same name as me cuz i feel like my name is sooo dated that ive only met like old ladies with my name

waiting is good advice. i really do want to wait and see how things go. i just feel like my friends are getting into the planning already and i want them to know/feel they are a part of it officially and get my other friend more into everything with my other friends so they get to know each other better. BUT most importantly it gives them time to plan and save up $$$ too!!!!

boo to the politics of chosing bms
