BM with tattoos...what to do??

So several of my bridesmaids have visible tattos (on shoulders, back, legs, etc). I know that some make up artists do cover them up, but mines doesnt I cant imagine asking the girls to wear pashminas in July! What should I do?? Anyone else have this dilemma?

Re: BM with tattoos...what to do??

I was in a wedding in August, and we wore chiffon dresses with a very sheer chiffon wrap (for the church). Of the bridesmaids, I had a visible tattoo on my shoulder, and another bridesmaid had a brand spanking new tattoo (so new that her mother first saw it the day of the wedding), and neither of us did anything to cover our ink.

That said, if getting married in a church, you could say you would like them to 'cover up' and get them pashminas or shawls.

I don't think it's proper to ask them to get extra makeup....you knew they had the ink when you asked them.

Nothing. I wouldn't want to offend anyone by telling them to cover it up.

I have a tattoo on my ankle and I am in two weddings this year where we are wearing short dresses. The brides haven't asked me to cover my tattoo but I am going to just becuase I wouldn't want to see it in my own wedding... however this is a touchy subject because you asked them knowing that they have these tattoos and they're NOT easy to cover up TRUST ME. The process takes forever and mine is only about the size of a silver dollar. You need REALLY GOOD concealer, the one I use is $25 for a TINY TINY tube and then foundation to blend it and powder to hold it all in and then if it's hot out FORGET IT. It starts to come off. Some people I am sure would understand but you can really run the risk of insulting someone by asking them to cover their tattoos.

Let them show.

A) No one is going to be putting all of their focus on the BMs anyway.

B) They're not going to be in all of your pictures.

C) They've probably had them since long before you asked them to be a BM.

I would do nothing, me and all my bm's had visible tattoo's, I wasn't hiding mine and would never ask them to cover them up

Thanks ladies...

So yes we are getting married in a church and the BM's have asked what they are to do - I think they actually want some of them covered. It really doesnt make a HUGE difference to me...just wanted to see what everyone thought Thanks for the input!

I'm not too fond of this idea.
It could cause a whole lot of unnecessary drama.

That being said, since the OP mentioned that her girls asked her what to do, then I think that either finding an affordable and easy solution they can do themselves OR hiring a separate m/u artist to take care of things are the best solutions - after discussing it with all of the girls who would be affected by it.

But giving it to them as a gift...that's like saying 'I want all of the girls to be brunettes, so here, blondie...here's a bottle of dye, go fix what's broken about you'

i honestly would not ask em to cover their tat's or take out any piercings for that matter... i've seen a lot of wedding pix with bm's and brides with tat's and i think they look awesome!

If they asked you then thats different... if youre ok with them showing then tell them that... or suggest the pashmina idea to them

A few of my girls have visible tattoos, I wouldn't want to ask them to cover them, it's a part of them.

I wouldn't have asked my girls to cover up their tattoos. I didn't cover up my tattoo either.
